Could use a little help here. I am the original owner of a very low mile 1990 Yamaha Zuma that I am recommissioning from a very long slumber. Of course, the scooter was not stored properly and the fuel residue really fouled up the carburetor. I pulled it and thoroughly cleaned, reassembled, and reinstalled it. Scooter fired right up and ran great, but fuel was pouring out the drain tube. I pulled it again and inspected and cleaned the needle valve and its seat area. The rubber valve tip is clean and pliable. I reinstalled the carb and it still leaks albeit much less, so my re-cleaning must have done some good.
I don't see that there is a way to adjust the float height as the valve slides into a plastic holder on the float with no way to adjust. Everything looks pretty good, but I'll probably pull it again and test the valve seat for leaks. Any other suggestions? Replacement parts for the carb are grossly overpriced, so I don't want to replace them hoping that will work. And a replacement carb is not inexpensive either. I would rather see if I can get the original one to work.
Thanks for the help.
