BBK installed, vacuum lines?? By scootvirginia (Read 2,048 times)

Ok the kit install went pretty well and easy due the 49cc scoot tutorial, thanks to whomever did that. One thing though is the head cover on the kit does have the same connections as the stock head. You cannot bolt back the flange to the new head cover, what do you do close it off? I am not getting fuel delivery so naturally this must be the issue.

Any help, diagrams or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

You mean the valve cover? It only has the crank vent and that has nothing to do with fuel delivery. If you have a vacuum fuel valve that works off of the intake manifold. Not sure what you mean, maybe a pic would help. Rich

Oh yes the valve cover right... It is the metal S shaped tube going to the bottom side of the cover and has an exhaust looking flange which leads to a large black tube going up to the seat area. For some reason the attachment button is greyed out and will not allow me to attach anything. Maybe this lin will work for picture

Also one other question the washer on the flywheel has a flat side and a recess side, which way does that go and where? Of the pictures I took during disassembly it was not shown as it must have been stuck to something and I guess it goes behind the nut with the recess toward the flyweel.

Ok so the new cdi and coil was bad so it would not start. Thanks to the help files and some reading of the mutimeter testing I got that cleared up. Great help and reference for anyone who needs it.

Setup is as follows in case anyone is interested
Stock carb with 88 main and stock pilot. Need to do plug chops to see where we are in plug readings
Stock air box may try the uni filter..
Stock exhaust
and of the 100cc BBK
The kit came with a new oil pump and gear but it was not compatable with the gear mesh and the way it connected to the pump shaft. Is this really needed to be changed? Anyone added a temp gauge for the scooter?
So far so good, and if you have comments great, love to hear them.

Yeah, you nailed it, that S tube is part of the PAIR pollution system and it's a POS. Here's a diagram of it:

The S tube terminates on the exhaust side of the head below the exhaust valve but before the exhaust port. There's a one way reed valve at the end of the tube that allows fresh air into the exhaust system in pulses to help burn off excess fuel (HAR!). You can remove the S tube and block the PAIR port with a little plate:

I've also put a stopper at the other end of the S tube, it seemed to work OK. You can take all the other crap off and pitch it, it does nothing but get in the way. Just remember to block the vacuum line back to the intake manifold.

The old oil pump will work just fine. From what I've read they're all the same, there is no upgrade available.

I've did temp gauges for the oil. The oil drain on the left side is an M12. I think this sensor would screw right in but make sure before you order. You can also get M12 adapters but they tend to leak. Another thing you can do is stick an oven probe thermometer in the fill spout right after you ride and see what the temp is, over 250 is too hot. I know that's weinie but it works until you get something else going. Rich
