Hey guys. I am looking to upgrade my scooter a little and I am not sure what are some easy simple upgrades that will help performance besides a new air filter. one thing I have a question about is if I get a new air filter, am I going to need to get a bigger jet size for my carb? I feel like I would mess up putting in a new jet if that is needed.

Ususally you do have to re-jet at least 2 sizes bigger than what is in there to match the extra air coming in with a free flow filter.

Go up one level on your clutch mainspring. You'll gain significant acceleration but will still retain the same top end. It's a very inexpensive mod that has a big payback. Rich

Alleyoop. How do i go about doing these things, and can you recomend a good air filter to upgrade too that will fit and 139qmb 50cc carb and also a good jet to go with it. And rich how would i go about doing what you said and can you reccomend a good product ?

Here is a Video on how-to: A #80 Main Jet will do just fine DO NOT change the PILOT JET just the main jet.
For the Air Filter get a UNI FILTER for your 18mm Carb.

Here are three videos that are in the Scooter Doc Library on how to swap out the mainspring. There's a wealth of information there for the CVT and everything else. Here is a device I constructed to help swap out the spring. Here is a commercial site with a brief tutorial on the clutch springs and the different mainspring strengths. Mike at Buggy Parts NW has a nice article on the mainsprings.

Thanks for the help! I just ordered my new carb and i am going to order that new air filter too now, do you know what size I should order to fit the carb? And then do I need anything to help attach the air filter or does it come with everything needed to mount it properly? and is their a particularly good #80 main jet that any of you would recommend?Also Alllyoop, on my current stock air filter their is a small hose going from it into my cvt where the clutch and other things are located. It doesn't look like the new uni filter has a hose that goes to that so would i just unplug that hose? And since I am getting a better air filter and only up jetting the main jet, will i have trouble hard starting and idling or only using on 1/4-1/2 throttle because i am not upgrading anything else, or do you think I should be fine, because I don't want to upgrade anything if it is actually just gonna make other problems.

I forgot to ask, if the new air filter just connects straight into the carb, or does it go in the airbox the old filter is in? I am asking because i don't feel like there is a way to make it fit in the airbox that the old filter is in.

That link I gave you for the uni Filter is for your Motor so it will fit and it connects straight on the carb so your AIR BOX goes away.As for the Hose going to the air box WHERE is the hose coming from?

As far as changing to free filter you may have to re-adjust the FUEL RATIO MIXTURE on your carb a little but when you do I can give you instructions on how-to if there is a problem.

Here is the main jet scrool down for your 139QMB motor and select your jet.

Ok alleyoop here is this a picture of the hose. I will take on more close up of where it goes into the cvt. Also i clicked on your link and then hit add to cart, but it said I had to sellect a size first for the air filter.

This is a close up of the hose going into the cvt. so you don't think these upgrades will cause any new problems like hardstarting or have trouble idling or only going 1/4 throttle?

The Unit Filter the Very firet on on the selection list for 16.11 = 4" for 38mm, $16.11.

The Hose is a Tranny Vent hose so If you are going to Actually take the WHOLE AIR BOX off then tie it up high like it is with a zip tie. You can put a little Fuel Filter on the end so nothing its in but can vent to the air.
