How durable are carbs? I just bought a new carb and had my dad looking at the new carb while we were outside. He placed it on the ground behind me and well i kicked it and it knocked around a bit. Do you think it is possible for something to have gotten out of line and messed up or am i just being over paranoid? Also this carb is a little different. There is no drain screw at the end of the hose. So i was wondering is this the drain screw on the carb? Attachments:

Not to worry as long as nothing was broken on it, they are pretty durable. And yes that screw next to the drain hose IS the Drain Screw. Can you take pictures of the other side and include the top like a complete sideview of it. Alleyoop

Here is a picture of the carb. So i should definitely tighten that drain screw down. Also what should a good starting point right off the bat be for the air fuel ratio screw and idle speed screw? Attachments:

Good just wanted to make sure nothing was broken on it. They usually come pretty well set. But to verify Turn the Fuel Ratio Screw Clockwise until it stops and count the number of turns it took to stop. Then turn it Counter Clockwise 2 1/2 turns that is pretty much a good starting point. You can always fine tune it after you start it and let the motor idle for AT LEAST 5 minutes to allow the ENRICHER shut off the extra fuel for cold starts. Alleyoop

Alleyoop if i just ride it around for five minutes would that warm it up just as well? And then What is a good setting for the idle speed to start at as well? I sure hope that 80 main jet will be enough for optimal performance when my new air filter arrives

Yes, you can ride it around to see how it runs with 2 1/2 turns out. Idle should be around 1500 and the REAR WHEEL NOT SPINNING. Alleyoop

Got it! Thanks for the help alleyoop. The air filter, main jet, and fuel and vac lines should be here soon and then i will install everything thing at once. Just wondering though do they sell 3/16th and or 1/4 vacuum hose plugs? Like plugs to plug up the ends of the vacuum hoses?

You can use Gold Tees and zip tie them on they work great or you can use JB weld fill the hose about 1/4 of an inch or so and then after it hardens put a zip Tie. If you ever need the hose again just cut it where the hardened JB weld is. Alleyoop
