blew the engine on my gy6 150 scoot.
scrappy dog has a new one complete for $350, my question is are all 157qmj engines the same. I see where some have different stators , different number of poles. if I was to buy the engine from scrappy dog, should it bolt up and all connections be the same ?

The thing to watch is the STATOR wires and PLUG if that does not match yours then you will have some wiring to do. Also don't forget the length of it, is it a long case or a short case, and if long case there are two long cases one for the 16" wheel scoots, Also watch out for the type of BRAKES on the motor is it for a DRUM BRAKE SYSTEM or for DISC BRAKES. Call him, he'll talk to you. Have you checked Ebay? They have good deals. The stator choices are WYG center tap, YYY three phase with magneto AC CDI feed, YYY with DC CDI and no magneto coil. The WYG come in 6 and 8 coil varieties. Some of them have two magneto......you better call Scrappy.... Rich

Would it not be cheaper to just rebuild your original one or find a 2nd hand one ?
