I recently had some work done on the transmission on my trike to repair the reverse in the transmission, within 4-5 weeks of very little driving the trike completely stopped and would not move...engine would run but no movement. Come to find out the variator on the engine crank shaft had self destructed wiping out the splines on the both the variator hub and the engine crank shaft. I talked to the shop that worked on the transmission, the told me that they did not take the variator apart to work on the transmission. My question is, If you need to work on the transmission, can you remove the clutch assembly without damaging the belt or anything else and not take the variator assembly apart?
