I have a 1p57qmj long case engine with 12/3.50 inch wheels. I was sent the 842-20-30 belt it seemed very tight, I was hardly able to slip it over the variator spacer when installing it. As i rode it about an 20 minutes it got extremely hot and began to melt along the left side of the belt. I was wondering if I could use the 856-23-30 belt without any issues?

Thank you everyone for the time that you used trying to explain my issues. After multiple times of looking over several different wiring diagrams, i finally got all my electrical working. I just have to run my wire for my RPM gauge, and get a new speedometer cable and everything will be fine with that. Next Im going to learn the carburetor and, after putting a CDI with no rev-limiter, ignition coil, plug wire, and 3 prong plug (which im not a fan of). It seems to have better tourqe but i think it needs new jets to handle the cold air intake. So thinking about going back with my factory air box until I get a chance to re-jet the carb. Why does my bike run better on 87 or mid grade octane, than it does on 93? Could it be because of the jets? It still has a bogging sound at about 3/4 throttle. But it doesnt seem to lose a tremendous amount of power unless its cold outside.

left side brake switch was bad, but once i took it apart, i had tail lights, and once i completed the circuit i had brake lights. But still, no start button. I ran my own switch from one pole of the relay to the other and it is starting fine. Now Im trying to figure out these turn signals

Ok, so on the new harness, there are 2 yellow/green wires, and 2 black wires, do I wire the 2 sets of wires together and then wire my brake switches into those?

After wiring the starter relay Yellow/red to ground, and yellow/green to what is yellow/green. Now after doing so, I had no tail-light, which i did prior to rewiring the starter relay, so apperently I need to hook the other yellow and green wire and also the black wire into the existing brake switches correct? Which are yellow/green and black running to both handles. But after I rewired the starter relay i had brake lights working on both switches, but still no turn signals or headlights (which just discovered they are burnt out from the pre-existing rigged up harness it hard on it when i bought it from my landlord.

Now thinking of it, i did run the yellow and green wire to the green wire on the starter relay, and ran the yellow red wire from the starter relay to the red yellow wire on the new harness. So that would be backwards correct?

Also, is there a way of adjusting my rpm gauge? At a idle it is saying its idleling at 4000 rpms, which there is no way because its idled so low now that it shuts off sometimes (which im going to tune as soon as i get my wiring finished) Now this also being said, the cdi that i just recently put it in has a extra ground wire, as to where the new harness has no ground in that one slot, should i run one to be safe? Also where and how many grounds do i need from my frame to my engine? I have one now going from the mud flap support bolt to the ground on my frame where the battery is also grounded (with the rest of my grounds), ive had no shortages or anything so far, and everything seems just be missing a few wires in the correct spot. (Ill post pictures tomorrow so i can edit them giving detail of my questions) Thank you all for your time by the way. The stator is charging the battery, battery has remained at a steady 12.8 volts all day while tinkering.

Sorry for the mass confusion, Im in the beginning stages of learning the electrical systems of these Chinese mopeds. But on another level, I think I have the relay wires backwards, or at least the connector on the new harness was just backwards from my scooter, so ill try switching that, and also on the left hand switch (Headlights high and lo, turn signals, and horn switches) On the new harness there is a dark green wire running into a blue and white wire on my left hand switch, and also a black wire on the new harness (assuming that is 12vdc) is running to a green wire on my left hand switch.
Now me having the wire backwards on the stator would cause me to lose power to the yellow wire (12vac)? which is powering my instrument cluster lights etc?

My head light wires are dark blue, white, and green. The new harness also has a brown wire running from it. But i have the running light connected it is green and brown, and the turn signals are wired which are light blue and green, and orange and green, But nothing on my left hand cluster works besides the horn, so im stuck with the brake light (not the tail light, it works when the key is in the one position) So for some reason its like Im not getting power to my gauge cluster. as far as the lighting goes. And i know the flasher relay is good, ive changed the right hand brake, master cylinder and brake switch. So. I just need a little guidance if someone is willing to walk me through this tonight or tomorrow afternoon, im a single parent and this is my only way of transportation to and from work, I had to risk it this morning on the way to work and run without lights or turn signals which is rather nerve racking. So could someone please text me and let me send you pics of what im working with?

Also, there is this mysterious, dark brown and dark green wire, that i cant figure out where it goes for the life of me. Also, I have one more black 12vdc wire that I cannot figure out. Im just having a heck of a time, if anyone would be interested in texting me about this issue so i can send pics etc and walking me through it i would appreciate it dearly!
