I Just installed new brake on front of bike 2 or three days ago and came down a very big hill and the brakes were acting funny not really slowing me down very well. What is going on scared me pretty bad they were smoking never had that happen I was thinking about heading home but ended up the strip district to get some fresh flowers and vegitables sorry to be of topic.
The brakes seemed to be fine and working well after my small trip I am not sure what would cause that any input would be great. I don't care to get hurt or hurt someone else. Very confused. Thanks and be safe I not sure why it smoked the brakes is there some sort off coating on new pads I am un aware of? I have probley put like 60 miles on scooter since ne ???w pads installed. Not really sure what is going on?

When you installed the pads did you sand the glaze off the disc?

Listen JV, you don't come CLOSE to wandering off topic as much as I do. So if the admin can do it, you go ahead buddy. I have seen pads with a little coating on them and it burned off. If your brakes are working OK now I wouldn't worry about it. It sounded like you got them installed correctly on that other thread so as long as you're stopping OK,don't worry about it. Rich

Thanks just took it out for another ride to get some ribs im excited haven't had ribs in over a year. Of topic again but on the ride every thing was working good. I did not sand the rotor kz I was pretty worried when I saw smoke the hill I went down is pretty stinking steep real windy. Bashan thanks I will not worry to much about it until I rear end it into a car and look like a jack bass. I think it's ok I really was kina shooken up when it didn't want to stop.

If they are working now the pads just needed brake in. Some need more than others. Also when you replaced the pads did you bleed out the old fluid. The fluid can absorb water and air and you will have very weak braking with a spongy lever/pedal.
