Sounds like a vac leak but John is correct, without pictures we're guessing. When you take pictures, don't get way up close, get back a little so we have some perspective. I'm moving your thread to the clinic board. Welcome to the forum. Rich

scooterdoc.proboards.com/thread/10064/post-picturesI don't think leaving the other hose disconnected is causing the problem What I think is the problem is that the chrome piece is allowing to much air and not enough fuel and the motor is starving for gas. The other hose is coming from a Canister and it is either from the gas tank vent canister or from the valve cover vent or from the EGR emissons canister or valve. All of which would not create that problem from disconnecting the hose from the air filter. Alleyoop
