As you all recall last year I put a new cylinder head from Scrappydog on the 150cc. Over the last year I've put nearly 1,000 miles on it and figured it was time to check the valves. Today I dug into it, expecting the worst, and came away amazed. I set the intake last year at .004 and the intake at .005. Guess what? The intake was still at .004 and the exhaust was at .003. Given the reports I've seen over the years I was expecting the intake to be at zero and the exhaust hanging open. I also replaced the original "P" head with a standard head and the scooter seems peppier. If this is the state of Chinese parts and scooters after the six years I've been involved, please, please, give me more.

I was just amazed for two reasons. The first is that I bought the cheapest head I could find. I was expecting to sell the scoot after I fixed it so quality wasn't the issue, price was. I got both it would seem.
The second is that Scrappydog has a reputation among many detractors of selling junk parts, the reason for his bargain prices. If this is cheap junk, I hope to buy more. The head works and has stood the first test of quality in my opinion. The valves have held their clearances over what should be the break in period.
Last surprise. While I was checking the valves I noticed that the air box hose wasn't on the carburetor. I must have forgotten to tighten the clamp when I put it together last year. Over the last year I have experienced NO bogging, hesitation or starting troubles at all. It must be that Japanese carburetor GS Motorworks put on the scooter. I didn't even realize the hose was off until yesterday.

Hey, the only people who don't make mistakes are the ones who never do the work. You should know this quote. "Erv Kanemoto stands head and shoulders above other tuners simply because he's standing on a bigger pile of broken parts."
