Okay, y'all solved my light problem for me but now I have another issue. At the end of May or beginning of June, I checked the fluid in the transmission. Didn't see any oil on the tip of the little dipstick (?), so I added oil -- in fact, I added oil until it ran over. I do have a user manual for this scooter but it really isn't helpful at all. Now, I am seeing oil on the rear tire next to the transmission. When looking at the tire side of the transmission, I see a small plastic tube on the side of the transmission. Is this tube an overflow tube? If so, then is the oil I'm seeing just overflow from having over filled the transmission? I will appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

Welcome horse lady I read your post and your question on over filling you engine there is a tube I believe that acts as a overflow. I believe you have nothing to worry about just re check your level and make sure you have oil on your dipstick and you should be good to scoot. to the sight bashan could give you a better understaning on it were is he surprised he hasn't said anything.

horselady - usually oil on the back tire is a leaking crank seal on the variator side. at least it was for me. but since the gearbox was empty and you refilled it then it may be leaking. the hose thing is a pressure vent or overflow. the way you are supposed to fill the gearbox (at least on a GY6) is to fill it to overflow and let most run out the fill bolt and then replace it and its full. hope this helped. somebody else will be along shortly.

This is the procedure. Is the clear tube on top of the transmission or does it look like this:
The above pic is an accumulation tube for the crankcase breather. It will fill with engine oil, not transmission oil. It is normal to collect oil in that tube. Empty it when it fills and make sure you seal it back up, it will cause an intake leak.
