What am I missing? All of a sudden my clutch is trying to engage at about 1000rpms. I thought it would be a simple fix and took my belt cover off to take a look. I saw nothing obvious so I took my variator and clutch off to look deeper. I thought maybe a spring broke but all was ok. So I took the clutch apart to clean it and relube it and ended up dropping it and breaking one of the pullies. So, I bought a new clutch and installed it when it came in. I also cleaned my variator and made sure everything was ok there while it was apart. When I put it back together it is doing the same thing. Any thoughts?

Yes. I made sure the sliders where in place when I slid the variator back on. But, I will check again just to make sure something stupid like that didn't happen.

How's the belt? The ratios can change if they get worn. If you've ruled out clutch and variator there's not a heckuva lot left.

Problem solved. I found one slider in place wrong. May have been my mistake or moved when installing the variator last time I had it apart. Thanks for the help.

People make that mistake all the time YOU HAVE TO PUT THE BOSS IN and HOLD the ENTIRE VARIATOR ASSEMBLY with your hands and slip it on and push it all the way back then put the belt on the BOSS and the FAN on. If you do not hold the Variator and BACK PLATE that holds the weights in place they will get out of position. Alleyoop

Is this too weinie?
It holds the inner pulley against the ramp plate until you can assemble everything. I'm a weinie.
