From my experience you will be replacing that JB Weld in a couple months. It doesn't seem to like the exhaust gas. So keep an eye or ear on it. Actually most motorcycles us the same charging system as these scooters. Few have separate generators/alternators.
I believe on a quiet night,
I can hear the fish laughing.
The automoto I worked on had a dc cdi and a 3 phase stator . Just recently Bashin changed his 12 coil 3 phase stator to an 11 coil 3 phase with an ac power feed coil to power the ignition system . It steadied his charging voltage . I think he can give you better feedback on that .
I would link you to the thread but I'm not able to paste from my phone .

I'll not be replacing it with the same OEM muffler, though. Probably go with the flex pipe/canister and hack off the bushings to keep the integrity of the frame. The break was in a bad spot, as the hot exhaust gasses began to melt the fiberglass body. Have to keep an eye/nose out for that one, too...

I'll definitely keep an ear/eye out for it. When it goes, it goes. I'll not be replacing it with the same OEM muffler, though. You know, for a machine with less than 700 miles on it, this thing is keeping me and my wallet jumping...

So, apparently my wife and I as combined riders are pretty close to the weight limit. I'm a fairly large dude. So this puts the wires down close to the muffler, and they melted again. So, I rewired and this time I added some cable management and crafty zip tieing to keep the wires off the muffler:
Now, as you can imagine, and as most of you have predicted, the JB weld didn't hold. The muffler tape is helping a lot, though. However, there is still a tremendous amount of heat coming off where the break is, causing it to melt the engine cover:
So, anyhow, it is running rough:
And this is what my voltage reads at idle, before I ride. After I ride, it sits significantly higher. Almost 14:

Does yours have a manual switch for the headlights that you can turn off and on or do they come on automaticely? Also do they come on with the key just on. Alleyoop
JB is not recommended for mufflers, has max temp of 500 degrees. To remove it heat to 600.
Any guess as to how hot the muffler on a 150cc G6Y gets?
Guess we know now the muffler is hotter than 600 degrees. You have mentioned the weight thing with you and your wife, The engine with the muffler firmly attached gets stuffed upwards, the more weight the furthor up it goes and that may be all of the problem. What I would do after making sure you are not running lean (makes more heat) is to replace muffler just like I did with my old 150 chinese. I welded up an adapter to screw on a briggs and stratton muffler. Takes a 3/4 pipe fitting to screw into. Small, louder, just like a lawn mower, and needs a bigger main jet. With very little surface to radiate heat off and the straight thru design almost all heat goes behind you and gets out a lot faster.

Well, ended up having to take the muffler to a shop and have it welded. All the cold-weld products I tried failed miserably. As far as the melting wire problem, I ended up extending all the wires a foot or so and routed the away from the exhaust system. Now, to tackle a stalling problem. I start it up, runs fine. When it warms up, it stalls a couple times. When it warms up all the way, it runs fine. More of an annoyance at this point. Just glad the thing is running.

check this out I have two different flanges[sflanges[/s] I would look to attach the flange to the old engine pipe and then you can mount a new muffler , then depending on the flange you pick you can choose your muffler .
