I had my scooter for under a year when it was stolen even though it was chained to a bike rake at a public library....thought I would never see it again but was so happy when I had to pay the 100.00 to get it out of tow yard since the police had recovered it from the thief. I was not very happy when I saw it though....nightmare but I found the parts needed and it was time to put it back together but thing is that the person who stole it for some reason spliced into the wiring to make it start without the ignition and the key and the starter button....its a ATM50-1 Tao Tao by the way...So now were putting the ignition back on it and trying to figure out what is the problems but we cant figure out some of the wiring regarding the starter button located under kill switch on the right handle throttle bar...they bypassed it for some reason as it is seeming that perhaps the button may have went out on them and they took extension cord and ran it to starter to battery and under seat made a starter switch that works when you put the kill switch to the on position! I really need the wiring to this thing so that we can find out how to put the starter or ignition switch...yellow button....back together to start it with the key and get rid of their extension cord starter generic wiring that now starts with their push button...any ideas on where to find it?

Check the library here for the wiring diagram.

My atm50 tao tao was attempted to be stolen, but didn't. the broke off the plastic nose piece in the front and yanked the wires from the ignition key switch quick disconnect plug to try to by pass the key not being there. I was going to buy some metal spades for the plastic quick disconnect box so i could crimp them on to the wires and slide it back into the disconnect junction box (which still looks in good shape), but not sure which wires goto which spot on the disconnect plug, and if there is jumper wires from one terminal to another, being that one side has 5 wires to it and all i see is 4 wires on the other side. Anyone have a wiring diagram for this Here is a pic on my dropbox to see www.dropbox.com/s/998l75q9mgn82r8/20141218_110435.jpg?dl=0and another one www.dropbox.com/s/ia3p0u6quavszep/20141218_110424.jpg?dl=0

Here is a generic diagram for a GY6:
The ignition switch connects the red to the black to energize the system. The green is ground and the black/white is the kill wire. Showing a pic of the connector does not help, it's the wire colors that matter. If you can get us a description of the wire colors on both sides we can help you.

Husband has narrowed it down to thinking it is the coil if there is anyway you can tell me how to check the coil I would be greatful as I got juice coming from the CDI and STator to the coil but no spark coming out of end of wire going to spark plug there is no spark Been through winter and he gave up so he is starting up on figuring out why it turns over but will not start

Let's do this step by step. Some of this may seem redundant but you'll have to do this just like I say or I can't help you. Check your spark just like this with the killswitch to run:

Could be as simple as the KILLSWITCH is not in the run position. If the Killswitch is on then there will be no voltage going to the COIL from the CDI. Also if the scoot has a Sidestand Make sure it is up some scooter also have a killswitch on the sidestand. Alleyoop

Great advice Alley, I missed that. How about a piston?
