a while back I posted about engine stopping because of no oil, well today I got a new engine and pulled the old one out, then installed the new one, all went well until I tried to mount the rear wheel. well there was no axle shaft exposed to install the nut, it was not the same size as the old one. so I pulled out the old axle and install it in the new engine, and it all fit great, guess I need to call scrappydog to find out why it has the wrong axle. it was over 2 " shorter than the original one. the other difference is all the vacuum lines, the old engine has the pac, and the new one does not. so I may be posting on here for some help on how to change the vacuum lines. this was supposed to be a easy bolt up job, but ended being a major task.

It's never simple bud, it's always something. Good for you on figuring out the final drive. Vac lines are easy, the source is the intake manifold and the destination is the vac fuel valve, ACV valve on the carb, and maybe some pollution things like vapor recovery. Get us some pix and we'll sort it out for you. Rich

Well that's a nice pic and a great looking scooter. But I was hoping more for a pic of the engine compartment. Nevertheless, read over Fuel and Vac Line ID. It's in the Library under Air Fuel & Carb.

well I found out I had made a dumb mistake. when I installed the new motor, I connected the two bullet connectors reversed, and had nothing, connected them correctly and now it turns over, but no spark. so what did I BURN OUT. the blue wire goes to the ignition pick-up coil. thanks. I am betting that I took out the CDI module.

Very important...read the caption in the first photo!:
Read the captions in the second photo:
Third, if you guys would just use the direct link on photobucket and use the image button you wouldn't have all that code hanging out there. I cleaned yours up Bailey. Fourth, by switching the bullet connectors you sent 100v AC to the trigger port which usually receives about .5v AC. So I suspect you fried the trigger circuit and consequently the CDI is toast IMO. That looks like vapor recovey and this is how it works:
This is how you remove it:
I suggest you do that and get rid of all the potential problems it carries with it.

on the crank case breather, should it be connected to the vacuum source or should I just put a short hose pointed downward.

I am questioning the 100 volts to the trigger circuit, if when the bullet connectors were reversed, there was nothing happening, everything was dead, the motor would not even turn over, so there could not be any voltage going to the trigger circuit.so I am thinking the cdi may still be good.
I bought a new one today and I still have no spark, motor turns over fine and I measured the voltages on the cdi and they seam to be ok. I am going to put the old cdi back in and recheck everything again. the new cdi was much longer than the original so it may not be the right one.
right now, I really don't know for sure.
another question: I have a inductive pick-up timing light, connect power to batt, clip the inductive pick-up to the spark plug wire, I think I should have it light up with the spark plug firing, well I have no indication of any spark.

ok, its running now, I went through all the videos, libraries and other post, did all the test and checks, then I noticed that the bullet wires were not reversed in the beginning, put them back and it started up and running fine even put the old cdi back in it, it was not bad.
all I can think of is somewhere I had a bad connection some place, but its ok now,
I did make a drawing of the wires and color before I pulled out the old motor out and looked at it carefully and I was correct the first time, stupid me, sorry for the trouble, and I did learn a lot from this. and yes the inductive timing light does work fine on it.

Good job you got her going! GREAT!!! Now the hot ticket for that thing is get a pump spray bottle of simple green and spray it down then hit it with a fine hose spray and you will remove all the oil and grit stuck to everything,,, easier to work on certainly cleaner and it will run cooler
