Okay I just wasted 66$ buying a new battery because I was tired of my lights being so dim all the time thinking it would fix it even though the battery was 13.5 fully charged on a multimeter ...  Do I need to purchase a new magneto? Can I just change out the stator to an 11 pole stator, I don't even know how many poles I have.    www.ebay.com/itm/181544338792

You probably need a new Regulator/Rectifier. Hang on Rich or Alley will soon be here to beat you into submission and show you how to test it correctly with your meter.

I just bought a new rectifier and it was hard to take off and put back on, I got it from eBay and when I changed it for the first time the clock lit up again with blue and then the color died out. But I doubt its the rectifier. I had a battery go out on me when I first got the scooter. I was inexperienced and picked up the new battery with metal coat hangers on each terminal to take it out of the scooter and it sparked big time. So I didn't notice it until my lights started to dim out and saw a leak on one of the terminals. I then went and got a new battery and all was good. Untill the rainy season and I never tested anything yet with a multi meter... I know my fuse wire is still coated with battery acid on the wires behind the loop. ..

Rich and TVNACMAN are the electrcial guys I do alright but not a guru on it. But notice the wires on the stator that you put up it has 3 going into a plug and the black/read CDI power wire and the Blue/white for the trigger. So check your stator wires and see if they match up, white, red, green on the plug.

Well first of all clean up all of your wires and contacts. As Alley said, and he's no slouch with electrics, what are your wire colors? If you have a yellow off of your stator, that is supplying your headlight. If that is the case we need to do some multimeter testing off of the yellow. Your battery really won't affect the brightness of the lights unless you have a DC powered bike. Then, everything runs off of the battery. I'm not sure what your bike is but I suspect it has an AC powered headlight which is affected by the stator and R/R. We need to know your wire colors off of the stator and what is your bike and it's cc's. I wouldn't order a stator until we sort this out, that is usually the last thing that is malfunctioning. Rich

I doubt you have a red off of your stator. However, it sounds like a standard GY6 single phase stator. In these cases the headlight and many other lights run off of the yellow regulated wire that runs to the R/R and then out to various lights. Set your multi to AC voltage in a range that will handle up to 100v AC. Then ground one probe of the multi and touch the other probe to a bare spot on the yellow wire. You can usually pull the connector insulation back where the yellow hooks to the R/R. Start the bike and get a reading at idle and then get a reading with some RPMs. Let us know what you get.

He may have missed the black stripe on the red wire .

Yeh, meant black/red wire, going to harbor freight to pick me up a 6$ multimeter again.

Going to test the stator soon, just found out when I called the dealer that it's an 8 pole stator.

Voltage readings was on ACV 200. I had the multimeter plugged into the wrong hole on the red one, no wonder I got the wrong readings, I will try and take the scooter apart again later tonight and get the proper readings sorry lol...

Okay, it has to be the R/R even though its brand new??? This thing was harder then concrete to take off and is really hard to put back in too. Here is my volts when my scooter idles LOL. 1drv.ms/1ql5Ere

What is so difficult about removing your R/R? It has four wires plugging into it and one bolt holding it on. It makes me wonder if you're on the right component. If you're getting 15 volts at the battery at idle that's a bad R/R. The white and yellow should be around 12v AC hooked up to the R/R and 40 and 20 unhooked. The Scooter Doc Manual has a chapter on stator testing.
