My tao tao 50 belt 669 18 30 stock measured it 17mm at 500km the new one measures 18mm, the belt looks good can i use this measurement as an indicator as when to change the belt, i would like to change it before it explodes and messes up something else, how muchwearwill ittake before it is time to change.

all depends on how hard you ride and the general over all condition,,,,,cracks ,and getting thin like 15-16 i'd start looking at replacement,,,

The middle number on your belt is how wide it is supposed to be when new in mm. The manuals say when it degrades 10% change it which is about 16 like Cyborg said. I have found when your ratios start to change you should swap belts. When you can no longer get the top end you're used to the reduced width is changing your ratio. But like Pete said, if it gets to look hinky change it.

Thanks guys it is 1mm worn from new and other than that it looks new with about 500km on it, i will run it probably till about 16mm and replace it, I hope it makes it.
