I loved my last one ,, and I'm still kicking myself in the head for getting rid of it,,,,, not the fastest they'll do 130-140 on a good day,,, they'll get 50 mpg if you take it easy on the loud handle,,, and with a ztechnik Ti exhaust and other bits they tip the scales at around 400 lbs ,, and all day ride comfort too,,, and they are the DIY dream bike,,,, very easy service for just about everything

The " telelever" front end as it's called by BMW separates the suspension forces and braking forces and also the spring is perched behind the steering head so there is no dive when you hit the brakes,,, it takes a little getting used to ,,, completely different than telescopic forks,,, I liked it so much I run ricor inertia valves in my conventional forks now So dive is minimized to almost nonexistent levels,,, some have reviewed this telelever system and called it vague and nonresponsive with " no feel" for the road,,, I call it brilliant!!!! And I'm a stupid mutherfukr for selling the first one I had,,, so the hunt goes on for a cherry one now

Being a Beemer nut myself, and a R model fan since 1973, I say go for it cyborg. Can't tell you how pleased I am with the R1200C I purchased last spring with 25,059 miles on the clock. I surely didn't need it....for I had bought one a year earlier, same color, same model, a year older, but only 5,771 miles. Not the power house, or as swift as some of the other R, or K models, but I love my cruisers....and miss my first Beemer..a 1973 R60/5 toaster tank, purchased new in Jan. 1974, for $2100.00. Boy, those were the days. So, go get it cyborg!!! For the price of a Honda PXC 150...I bought this:

Niceness!!!! Yeah out of all my bikes I think the Beemer shown the brightest as the best all around ride,,, altho my dr350 is very close,,, but it's only good in the dirt and as a under 70 mph commuter,,, nothing can touch it on surface streets or a canyon rip,,,, but if I could only have one bike it would be the r1150r,,, a truly great machine,,,, OW!!!!! Just had to kick myself in the head AGAIN!!!! Dammit I'm an idiot for selling my first one

Yes Pert rode one for a few years after the loss of his family,,, hit him hard,,, major drag,,, saw a recent concert recording of a live show that cat still has it,,, brilliant is an understatement at best,,, Rush is still great after 40 years,,, I used to see them before they hit the bigs in bars where I used to hang ,,, they were great then as well

Actually cyborg, it was 3.5k.....bought it for the wheels ($2600+ at the dealer), wanted to ditch the flaking chrome spoke wheels on my other C. But...the condition of this bike was so nice, I couldn't bring myself to start taking parts off it. Not a scratch, or dent anywhere, beautiful chrome, and drove pretty good. After a bit of maintainence, (fuel and air filter replacement, valve adjustment, a few tanks of real gas with injector cleaner) and it is running really sweet.....the leather seats and bags are a work in progress, and coming along nicely.......Have since found another set of wheels just like these, for the "99"...($1500...ouch)
Bashan, there are a lot of low mileage C's out there in the $4500 to $6000 range. This one was an exceptional find, especially with the cast wheels.(I got real lucky)........but don't hate me, I've paid my dues, worked all my life, raised kids, went without a lot of stuff that the neighbors had, and managed to put a little something away every month, for the "golden" (my arse) years. So, I retired 5 years ago....and have decided that I should have all the toys I want, while I am still able to mount them. When unable to hold them up.... I'll look into a sidecar for one and sell the other.

Really don't care for spoke wheels...too much work to keep them nice. Don't think I would have saved a bunch, had I gone the way you suggested....complete set of spokes, with hardware, for both wheels $427.20, then shipping the rims, and chroming, getting them trued up after reassembley, and buying tires (cast wheels came with almost new Dunlops)......might have saved a couple of hundred. But I wouldn't have a really straight set of wheels, with nice Pirelli's and balance beads (3000 miles of use) to sell.
$1500 sounds like a lot...and it is (don't have that much invested in my scoot)....but I really have a thing going for this style of BMW wheel....and like they say..."ya can't take it with you"
