Is this an issue that is just local to me or does it happen by you?

I'm just getting into scooters and I've been looking for a low priced project to work on over the cold months so I've been watching Craig's List, newspapers are useless.

When I search for scooters I get mostly electric mobility scooters and an occasional higher prices scooter. The reasonably priced one I checked into recently was in-fact a 24" bicycle with an added motor (Wizzer type). Even motorcycles.

When I search for mopeds I get the real scooters. Even the stealers list them as MoPeds. The only listings for real mopeds (with pedals) in the 4 cities I search in are for people looking for real mopeds.

I would think that at least the dealers would list them correctly.

Perhaps this board should be called Moped Doc's

Its about 50/50 here,,, go thru the scooter list then go to the moped lists and look at more scooters,,, mopeds are almost nonexistent and when you do see them the sellers act like they are gold,,, instead of a bicycle with a two stroke bolted to it

Good luck trying to find a reasonably priced scooter. I'm still seeing 2008 China scoots at $800 to $1000 on Craigslist. Hasn't anyone heard of depreciation? I checked KBB for my 150 recently and Excellent Condition-Retail, is $640, trade in is $335. Those scoots should be listing for like $400, tops, or less. Even non-runners are listed at $500. Not exactly excellent.

yes I have noticed that too 650,,, crazy prices for well used not running scooters,,, astounding,,, that's why I get all excited when one or more of our members drags home a whole scooter for under a hundred bux ,,, recently a $60 find came up (lucky bastard),,, nothing like that here,,,wish there was,,,

The same here with the prices and yet those same people what everything for free.
