Thanks. I have a multimeter. I misunderstood. I thought he was talking about some kind of device that installs next to battery that monitors voltage.

one of the reasons i would go with a battery hookup it's cleaner power as well,,,better for electronics

Volt MeterThese have 3 wires, hook one to ground, one to your main 12volt always on circuit, the third wire goes to ignition circuit to turn the device on/off. When it's off, there is zero draw... They are very easy to install in the plastic of these scooter. Just make a square cut-out and they snap right in. I ordered a bunch of these from China.

I think we all misunderstood because the way Dm said to test it and verify he was not talking about an installed meter to always be on the scoot he was talking about a Hand Held Volt meter.

I think I might keep it simple and just hook up the cigarette charger to the scooter battery, and unplug the GPS every time I stop the engine. Then I will reconnect the GPS AFTER I start the engine so there is no chance that the GPS will make the engine harder to start.

No, see post #19. I was saying to actually install a permanant volt meter... They're cheap, I got them for $2.69 to the door and super simple to hook up... Just tap directly into the R/R output... They only draw 60ma so there's no risk of interruption of power to other devices. They draw zero power when the scooter is off. It was just an option I was suggesting to mike to monitor his scooters electrical status... These scooters do not have much power to spare and a volt meter will let you know for sure where you're at... Every Scooter/motorcycle/vehicle should have a volt gauge/meter IMO. Everyone of my scooters has one

I was talking about post 10 & 12 Yes just like every scoot should have a TACH which tell you the past present and future and indispensable in tuning the motor and or cvt. My trike's instrument panel has both.

Yeah, I know Alley, I was just lazy and posted a pic to show a half assed installation to illustrate different options. I'm bad about wanting an add on and just bolting the mother to any piece of iron I can find and then running the wires where they need to go. But I gotta say the voltmeter and tach went through many rain storms, snow, ice, wind, dirt, and general nasty stuff.....and still kept going. But do it right kids, mount it in the dash or in a housing on the handlebars.

What is all the hoopla about installing a 12v plug, hundreds probably thousands have put one on. Connect it to a Toggle OFF/ON switch ground the thing and run a wire from the toggle to the battery. That way it is off until you flick the toggle on. Just about all scoots will show a drain or near drain or in the 12s at idle with something plugged into it until your revs are higher and the stator is putting out more juice to charge the battery.
