I rode down the road about an 1/8 of a mile. It's a blast! It's very nimble and fast. The wife rode it and she loves it....WHEW! I'm having a little problem with the CVT not wanting to engage until about 2,000 RPM. I think the clutch is stiff because it sat so long. So does Jack and Pete. I greased the inside of the clutch and will try it out this morning. The engine runs like a dream. Thanks Tom, if I get the paperwork we can legally go on a ride.

I swapped the Puma clutch for the Lance clutch and it completely fixed the high RPM engagement. I'm gonna button it up the way is and look at the Lance clutch when I get a chance. I'm sure it's something minor and I'll keep it as a spare.

Just goes to show you NEVER buy from a online dealer!

I knew I shouldn't have said anything with you two massengills around! Weird thing is you two are agreeing on something!! Actually I've always liked the CVTs on the China bikes, It's the electronics I REALLY dislike!

Be careful what you speak of. Those Znen electronics might just be in there next.

It's a very solid build and I need to get busy and do a write up on it. When I say it has the old Tank engine mount I mean the Tank corporation not a gas tank. If you look in the manual section you'll zee the Tank manual under the Chinese category. There you'll see the motor mount I'm talking about that is UNDERNEATH the engine and does not sit in your way over the engine. This is in the Tank manual which is a great resource, Rich

I told you they found that lost Tank warehouse and used the frames! The good Tank manual in the "Chinese" manual section proves it too! Then add the fact you're already slapping everyday Chinese GY-6 parts on it as the final straw!
So what do we call this damn thing? I know a:
CHIWAN SCOOTER!
At least it isn't as bad as that warehouse of used farm equipment I mentioned!

So the engine is a proprietary design? I guess a 125 can survive with a 50cc mount but I'm thinking it's on top of a 150 GY6 for a reason.

I just found this at Modern Vespa. It pretty much sums up my riding and engine preservation philosophy.
"I've been a tech and engine design and development engineer for most of my life and as a general rule, to get the best life out of the engine, you should not regularly and continuously use more than 75% of the engines total engine revs/power for cruising. Always vary the throttle setting by partially and sometimes completely closing the throttle to suck up plenty of cooling oil around the top end of the engine. It's called mechanical sympathy...something everyone used to learn a few years back and still applies today."

An engine is more likely to last if you run it conservatively at around 75%. AMAZING!! Who would of thought!! Of course I knew that KZ. Didn't you do things and say to yourself "I shouldn't be doing this" but you do it anyway? Try an eighty four mile work commute and you'll start to push the speed envelope. I've already put 10,000 trouble free miles commuting on the big SYM at 85 to 90% capacity. I don't give a sh!t who makes the parts or who assembles it, it is so far above the Chinese bikes I've had it's ridiculous. Shall we narrow the conversation? What is the list of scooters I will ride? Here it is: SYM The wife's new SYM had a clutch problem, big deal. A company makes millions of bikes and there's a part or two that's defective. It happens! Please don't hammer me with specific stats, you get the point. To Cookees great credit he has a clutch on the way. OK, I'm done, I ride a SYM, end of story.
