Well If you tried to adjust the carb to get the highest idle following my procedure and it still shuts off THEN its the VALVES that are tight. Here is a VIDEO on how to adjust your valves, You will need feeler guages marked ,003 .004 etc you can get a set at any auto parts store. But check the set some start at .008 which are only good for cars. Make sure the set starts at .003 .004 .005 etc.. And here is a VIDEO on how to do it TAKE YOUR TIME and make sure you ROTATE the MOTOR OVER BY HAND and get the CAM SPROCKET aligned like in this picture THEN you can adjust the VALVES. awh ,man this sucks now i gotta do all this work lol, well at least im not fully oblivious to how its done. so what about that ebay kit you saw?also how about me changing the spark plug ?? IM sorry but also what can i do with the back tail light and my high beam not working ?

so i ajusted the valves, seemed perfect, followed the video to the T, even made my exhaust a tad lighter. When i put everything back and started it up it tryed to crank then shut off, did this almost everytime. So im about to go back and re-adjust the valves, also i noticed the valves are extremely tight when the main whole on he crank was at the bottom( note i did not adjust it like that, i infact did it exactly like the video i was just trying to see how it felt) what do you think ?

They are tight because the HIGH LOBE ON THE CAM is pushing the VALVE DOWN(OPENING IT) if its the bottom one that is OPENING TO LET THE EXHAUST OUT, if its the TOP VALVE THAT IS PUSHED DOWN it is OPENING THE VALVE TO LET AIR AND FUEL IN. Here is how a motor works: Alleyoop

XD gotcha, so was it not running at first my fault for not having them tight enough, is that what could happen from that

Well if you gapped them to wide then they would not OPEN ENOUGH to let the right amount of fuel and air in as well as not let as much of the exhaust gases out. But they should be just peachy keen if they are .003 to .004 inch gapped. If it does not want to start with that then it has to be fuel delivery problem and or compression of the motor is low or the PLUG is not firing. Alleyoop

So you can find out which problem is causing it: To check for fuel and or plug not firing do this: 1. Crank it over trying to start A COUPLE OF TIMES and then take the plug out. a. If the plug is wet the plug is NOT FIRING. b. If the plug is dry AND IT DID NOT FIRE AT LEAST ONCE then no fuel is being sucked in to the motor.
2. NOW with the plug out Stick your finger in the PLUG HOLE and hold it nice and snug then HOLD THE THROTTLE WIDE OPEN and CRANK IT OVER A FEW TIMES. a. If it LIFTS your finger off the hole it has descent compression. b. If you just feel some pressure on your finger it has low compression. Alleyoop

thanks for the advice up top , but i went back and readjusted the valves, but i made them both a little Tighter then i liked them and when i turned it back on .......freakingSUCCESS!
