My friend may have accidentally kicked the starter the wrong way and cracked the starter releasing the spring or what not, and ive done about 3000Km on it, and now it seems my cvt belt came off ( its slowly felt like something was on the belt then it snaped and the engine was free to rev) Does anyone have any instructions on how i can go about replacing it
its a taotao 138qmb

Order a new belt, first of all. If you have 10" wheels, you order the belt for the SHORT case 139QMB. If you have 12" wheels, you order a belt for the LONG case.
Take the cover off of your CVT. You probably broke something off of the kick start assembly, and it caught in the belt, and broke it. Take everything to do with the kick start OFF. Check that your clutch, and variator are not damaged. Hopefully, they are not. Spin the clutch bell, and make sure it spins the tire freely, without any grinding noises. Take the variator apart, and examine it, as with the clutch. If all is well, leave the kick start crap OFF, put on the new belt, put the case cover back on, and have fun riding.

If that is all you did is put on a new belt then I would suspect the Weights in the Variator are out of position you did not put that on right. Also why did you replace the belt did it SHRED? If so did you clean out the CLUTCH Side for shreds of belt stuck in between the contra spring and clutch pulley? Alleyoop

Also check the AIR BOX which is right above the CVT check for the tubing not connected or open connectors suckin in extra air will cause bogging. Take some pics of the carb area and hoses and cvt and airbox maybe we can spot something open causing to much air to be sucked in. Easy Fix on this problem the Air Intake tubing was left off causing to much air to be sucked in causing the bogging. Problem is fixed and the scoot is running good again. Alleyoop

Once you have the carb tuned right with the right amount of fuel to air mixture ANY change will effect how the motor runs. With more air coming in that made it BOG due to not enough fuel for the amount of air it was sucking in due to the Air Box not restricted anymore just a big hole for air to come in.
It could also happen the other way as well TO MUCH FUEL not enough air but usually in this situation it would not bog but the motor would be sluggish and may stutter and make popping sounds. Alleyoop
