I just installed a 12 volt cigarette light port by connecting it to my scooter battery. It does not have a fuse. Do I need a fuse if my GPS has a built-in fuse?

I would install an inline fuse, on Any accessory circuit . It will protect your scooter if there happens to be a hard short like a pinched wire either in your circuit or the accessory you plug in.

Yes. Its easier to change the outlet fuse than the gps's fuse. All cars cigarette lighter have fuses even though some of the devices used have one.
