Check if fuel is being sucked into the motor, Crank it over trying to start it """IF IT DID NOT FIRE AT LEAST ONCE"" take the plug out and see if it is wet or dry.
If WET and it did not FIRE AT LEAST ONCE when cranking it over means NO SPARK. if DRY and it did not FIRE AT LEAST ONCE when cranking it over means NO FUEL IS BEING SUCKED INTO THE INTAKE.
Lets take this one step at a time. Also how does your brother know the valves are still set right? Also when were the valves set BEFORE THE BELT BROKE or AFTER? Alleyoop

Valves were set before the belt broke based on what the board recommended when he put my BBK in it. He pulled the valve cover last night & the valves were still at 0.04 on intake & exhaust.
The scoot is at his home now so might be slow going between updates cause he works. He has repaired ATV & motorcycles so I trust him more than I trust the only shop in town after they apparently damaged that connector & then denied touching anything beyond the CVT area. It started fine before we left it at the shop but after we picked it up, that was when the trouble starting happened. So whatever it is, happened there.
He did check the rest of the wiring going to the kill switch and all, no damage or loose connections found.
I'll reply about fire/not fire and wet or dry plug after I hear back from him.

Well if you took it to the shop to fix the broken belt in the CVT and now it won't start SOMETHING is not jiving. I mean you picked up the scooter to take it home so it had to start to be able to drive it back home. So what happened after you guys drove it back, did you guys lay it over or something or what. Did it get soaked in a rainstorm or what. Alleyoop

We could kick it over but it was really difficult and would not start with the switch. It would run for a couple days, then wouldn't run unless I put the battery on charger and recharged it. Went through that every couple of days. I rode it home that day but wasn't able to keep it running enough to be able to drive it.
My brother says it is not getting fire. plug is wet. It has absolutely no spark, he said he can hold the plug in a wet hand and not feel even a tickle from it.
He's wondering if the connector being damaged could have ruined the coil? He said the connector being damaged had to be why it wasn't charging. We have replaced the plug and the CDI but he's wondering if it not charging properly burned out the coil?
Is there a way to check the coil?

If the bad connector was from the Regulator/Rectifier then yes because that is what charges your battery and powers some lights as well. The COIL is FED through the CDI and the CDI is powered by the STATOR and PICK UP COIL tells the CDI when to release the VOLTAGE to the COIL to fire the plug. Now the COIL has the BOOT CAP which screws onto the COIL WIRE. IT could be a Bad Boot CAP which you can get at an auto parts store BUT take your plug with you so you can get one for your plug. The Coil you can only test for no breaks abut not for voltage. Same with the cdi BUT YOU CAN TEST POWER TO THE cdi AND POWER from the Pick up COil. Also since no spark make sure the KILLSWITCH is on RUN position also check if your sidestand has a killswitch some scoots have a killswitch on the sidestand for safety. That just check by the sidestand and see if you see anywires going to a switch on the sidestand. Coils cannot get burned out they just go bad and or the boot cap gets broke inside due to being pulled off to many times etc.. But you can always just get a new boot cap. What can get burned out is your CDI and Regulator/Rectifier if say the battery was hooked up wrong and blew the fuse etc.. Also the Rregulator/Rectifier will go bad if your battery is bad and you are riding without putting in a new battery. HERE IS HOW TO TEST AND FIND OUT WHY THE NO SPARK:

many thanks, he's gonna watch the video tonight but said it sounds like coil from what you posted. he's looked at my boot cap and its good, only been off 2 or 3 times to change the plug. the coil has never been changed and she has over 5000 km on her.
lucky mine don't have the sidestand killswitch.

Well it could be the COIL or the CDI, on the COIL you can test the wire that plugs into the COIL for voltage. But the voltage will be really high about 400 or so then the Coil builds that up to 20,000+ volts to the plug.

We have a brand new CDI, he's gonna try to get me a coil tomorrow if he gets a chance on lunch but he thinks it may just be dumb luck and it went out right after the work was done. He's an ASE mechanic, just wasn't sure how a scooter charging system differed from a car. Will post after he gets home from work tomorrow, he's taking my coil with him and I gave him the model info & engine info for my scoot so he can make sure he gets the right part.

He got a new coil for it and still no fire - so now has new coil, spark plug & CDI. Brother called a friend in a different state who said it sounds like the regulator/rectifier since new coil didn't fix it.
Brother wants to know if we should get a performance regulator/rectifier since it has a BBK or if stock is fine. He said if stock would wear out faster, he'd rather do performance now.

This weekend my brother pulled all the panels and on the phone with the guy he knows who has a couple snowmobiles and he had him test the stator. Still couldn't get it to start and he said it wasn't even hitting 10 volts when turning over so looks like stator is bad, correct?
Waiting to find out if I need a 6 pole or 8 pole stator or is it best to change the rotor at the same time? Or should I consider upgrading to the 11 pole system like I've seen people mention? And if I do upgrade to 11 pole, what else would need changed besides the rotor?
If anyone can provide me an AMAZON link to buy what I need, that would be great. I have about $75 in Amazon credit right now, otherwise I'm stuck till after the first of Dec since my disability goes fast when paying bills.
Brother said my stator has 6 poles with copper and 2 without.

Is this what yours looks like: The important thing also is the # of WIRES. The plug side plugs into the Regulator/Rectifier and the TWO stand alone ones One is the PICKUP COIL which goes to the LEFT TOP on the 4 plug side of the CDI and the other loose wire is the POWER WIRE that goes to the BOTTOM of the 2 plug SIDE. www.ebay.com/itm/like/151863579404?ul_noapp=true&chn=ps&lpid=82

I'll send the pix on to my brother but it will be late before he gets home and can check the wiring. Scoot is about 15 miles from me right now or I'd check myself, lol.
