I'll send the pix on to my brother but it will be late before he gets home and can check the wiring. Scoot is about 15 miles from me right now or I'd check myself, lol.

This weekend my brother pulled all the panels and on the phone with the guy he knows who has a couple snowmobiles and he had him test the stator. Still couldn't get it to start and he said it wasn't even hitting 10 volts when turning over so looks like stator is bad, correct?
Waiting to find out if I need a 6 pole or 8 pole stator or is it best to change the rotor at the same time? Or should I consider upgrading to the 11 pole system like I've seen people mention? And if I do upgrade to 11 pole, what else would need changed besides the rotor?
If anyone can provide me an AMAZON link to buy what I need, that would be great. I have about $75 in Amazon credit right now, otherwise I'm stuck till after the first of Dec since my disability goes fast when paying bills.
Brother said my stator has 6 poles with copper and 2 without.

He got a new coil for it and still no fire - so now has new coil, spark plug & CDI. Brother called a friend in a different state who said it sounds like the regulator/rectifier since new coil didn't fix it.
Brother wants to know if we should get a performance regulator/rectifier since it has a BBK or if stock is fine. He said if stock would wear out faster, he'd rather do performance now.

We have a brand new CDI, he's gonna try to get me a coil tomorrow if he gets a chance on lunch but he thinks it may just be dumb luck and it went out right after the work was done. He's an ASE mechanic, just wasn't sure how a scooter charging system differed from a car. Will post after he gets home from work tomorrow, he's taking my coil with him and I gave him the model info & engine info for my scoot so he can make sure he gets the right part.

many thanks, he's gonna watch the video tonight but said it sounds like coil from what you posted. he's looked at my boot cap and its good, only been off 2 or 3 times to change the plug. the coil has never been changed and she has over 5000 km on her.
lucky mine don't have the sidestand killswitch.

We could kick it over but it was really difficult and would not start with the switch. It would run for a couple days, then wouldn't run unless I put the battery on charger and recharged it. Went through that every couple of days. I rode it home that day but wasn't able to keep it running enough to be able to drive it.
My brother says it is not getting fire. plug is wet. It has absolutely no spark, he said he can hold the plug in a wet hand and not feel even a tickle from it.
He's wondering if the connector being damaged could have ruined the coil? He said the connector being damaged had to be why it wasn't charging. We have replaced the plug and the CDI but he's wondering if it not charging properly burned out the coil?
Is there a way to check the coil?

Valves were set before the belt broke based on what the board recommended when he put my BBK in it. He pulled the valve cover last night & the valves were still at 0.04 on intake & exhaust.
The scoot is at his home now so might be slow going between updates cause he works. He has repaired ATV & motorcycles so I trust him more than I trust the only shop in town after they apparently damaged that connector & then denied touching anything beyond the CVT area. It started fine before we left it at the shop but after we picked it up, that was when the trouble starting happened. So whatever it is, happened there.
He did check the rest of the wiring going to the kill switch and all, no damage or loose connections found.
I'll reply about fire/not fire and wet or dry plug after I hear back from him.

Passed it along to my brother, he has it at his house now. What started all this was the belt broke. Took it to a shop cause my brother didn't have tools for the variator & I had a stiffer contra spring I wanted installed. Also got them to change the roller weights. My brother had set the valves according to the board specs not 2 months prior and she purred.
When the belt broke, she still purred but didn't move and rear tire didn't spin if on the rear stand so we figured it was the belt. When we picked it up, we had trouble starting it, shop said they did as well when I called them the next day. We had 2 scoots we needed to get moved & no truck right then to haul so I had to ride my son's home so he could get to work, then my brother took me to pick mine up. Once we got it started by kicking, it ran fine all the way back to his house. I stayed the night cause they worked nights & had trouble starting when I left the next morning so stopped by the shop.
Shop claimed they didn't even disconnect the battery but someone did something to the connector going to the charging system, the plug was casing was cracked and it wasn't completely plugged in. We didn't find that out until much later though because of me being either sick or hurting bad and my brother was working long hours. I was still sick when he came over to check the wiring and found the problem with the connector. He checked the connector on a Roketa I have for parts & it was the same so he changed the plug & made sure it was tight. Checked the spark plug while he was at it and replaced it.
Scoot turned over real well but wasn't quite catching so he tried some starter fluid after confirming fuel was flowing well & taking the carb off and spraying it out with cleaner cause at that point the scoot had been setting a couple weeks. Checked air filter as well & it was fine.
Brother just messaged me that the valves are still set right

So past month has been pain hell for me so the scoot has sat.
My brother came over to trace the wiring and found that the plug going to the charging system was damaged so he fixed it. Spark plug was nasty so we got a new plug. She almost starts now but not quite. Getting plenty of fuel, he even tried to start it with starting fluid. Has a new CDI on it as well. She's getting fire and carb is not clogged. Trying to kick her over produces the same effect as starter switch.
Any ideas? He's coming over to try work on it again today but I'm laid up in bed again. Could the coil have been damaged by it not charging properly?

No, wasn't the fuse. Had battery checked and it tested good at both Autozone and Advance. Finally was able to get test light & multimeter & then the rain started & been staying wet for well over a week now. Waiting on it to be a not raining day before trying to track down electrical issues. No way I want to wet with wiring in the rain.

SO wasn't able to get to WalMart today but got the batteries charged. Son's scoot is hard to start but we know it's old (2006) and needs rebuilt. You have to feather the gas to get it to start.
As for mine, got my battery fully charged, then set it aside. Checked it a few hours later after it had sat and the battery is low again. Just for hell I plugged my CDI into son's scoot & son's started once I charged his battery that got low from trying to start his scoot. Haven't tried mine because my battery is charging again. This is the battery that came with it so is it possible the battery is the problem? Could it be starting to go out and just be coincidence it worked on my son's scoot?
When I was able to start my son's scoot with my battery prior to today, it was just after taking it off the charger. My son didn't run it much the couple days he used it, maybe 15 miles total run. Haven't tried my CDI with my battery in my son's scoot today. Is there a way to test a battery & tell if it is going bad without just running it & hope for the best? Maybe autozone or advance?
Getting frustrated quickly. think I got the problem solved only to find something different not working.

I'll have to tear the front end off to completely trace the wires. None of my wires up @ the cluster match the colors on my CDI plugs. However, my CDI only has 3 wires connected on the 4 prong section, 1 ground & 2 colored wires which I'm guessing is fine because if I understand the pix above, it could have 2 grounds? After my son's battery charges I'll go to WalMart & get a meter. Will report back this evening what I find cause I got some work to do @ WalMart area & might as well get it done since I'll be there anyways.

power problem was solved. my low beam is burned out & son had flipped it off & my tail light was burned out. My concern is still with the CDI. just bought a replacement CDI for sons scoot cause it quit after being used in mine.
the CDI I had ordered hadn't arrived so I emailed seller to complain it was 2 days late, they claim PO was returning it to them & they'd give me full refund. Had been trying the track # they listed & it never showed on USPS web so I had told them I felt they were trying to scam me since USPS will let you track anything if it has a #, even if Amazon doesn't show the tracking. Took the CDI from sons scoot to local place & got replacement. Not trying to get one for mine until I figure out why its blowing them. Cant afford $30 every couple days for new ones. Is it just possible that both were on the verge of going out? Mine came ion the scoot, bought new June 2014. Son's appears to be aftermarket on a 2006 Jonway, no idea when it was put on or how many miles it has run.
What am i looking for when I test the plug?
ETA: Just checked & both scoots have a black/white & black/red wires on the 2 prong plug for CDI. Both scoots do have a kill switch.
ETA: Got back with the new CDI & son's scoot wouldn't start - low battery. Tried it on my scoot & no start - took both batteries inside and mine is dead. So looks like I have a problem in my charging system. Could that be what is causing all my probs? Only 1 charger so waiting for my battery to charge, then I'll do son's battery.

Well, today was the last day of the expected delivery date and no CDI. I've got work to do tomorrow so now I have to buy a new CDI for my son's scoot and I'll use it.
Is there any difference in how an AC & DC CDI are wired in? I figure my problem has to be some kind of wiring issue or a short but my brother can't find his meters, he moved recently & is still unpacking.

The kit I ordered comes with a coil & triple prong spark plug.
I was able to electric start 1 or 2 times, then kick maybe a doz times but now it won't start at all. The new CDI I ordered hasn't arrived yet, hoping today.
