New to group and 50cc Chinese . I am grandfather working on Granddaughters scooter. She is a college student so now I have 5 college girls with scooters and trying to keep all on the road. Question is
Tao Tao 50cc. Starts then idles but can not get lot of rpm. Have to feather throttle then stops. Will not restart without starter fluid . Attachs like running out of fuel. Have checked fuel added fresh clean fuel Checked fuel pump (vacuum) steady fuel flow when cranking. Had new carb and installed. All the same things occurred . After sits awhile will crank but will not run long and no high Rpms feather throttle to keep going. Allsignd of running out of fuel.. Need direction in which way to look. Is there a vacuum line that advances rpms. Tks

have you tried adjusting the valves?

No have not adjusted valves. Newer scooter 2300 miles. Not enough knowledge with these to be adjusting valves thanks for your reply

valve adjustment isn't that difficult. lots of good knowledge in the library and youtube is your friend.

Love utube. Got the valves adjusted. Hoyt it started and it stays running. It will not idle and still need to use starter fluid. When running it tons will go up and down , still have play with throttle to stay running. Will go back to UTube to find how to adjust carb.. Will get back later after carb. At least I can keep it running

Here is a STEP BY STEP how to adjust your carb it is very easy just take your time.

If the idle is bouncing up and down it is to LEAN it NEEDS MORE FUEL so adjusting the fuel mixture will correct that problem.
