I believe my carb does not have that spring in the diafram.

there must be a spring above and inside diaphragm slide,,if it is not there and was removed by someone i'm very surprised the machine will even start

Hey cyborg I will be trying to chew your ear of about vespas in general I am a big fan and stellas I have some questions for you are the vespa cave guy. I took of the top of the diafram when I had the carb of I did not see it I will have it off at some point again because the intake is shot.
I need to figure out why it will not run good on ground and stop jerking and making clunking noise.
Need to check motor mount yet swing arm bushings.
The baterie died darn.
The cvt need more info.
I am leaving the house soon got some things to attend to today but of the topic I have vespa junky questions.

there must be a spring in the diaphragm or the slide will over react and will not travel smoothly in it's bore,,,you can post questions on the vespa board or pm me

If the carb is NOT A SLIDER TYPE(THROTTLE CABLE GOING INTO THE TOP OF THE CARB) it has to have a SPRING otherwise any little bit of vacuum would raise the needle out of the jet and would be very slow to come down to idle. Alleyoop

Scooter junkys update Well there was enough baterie to start it today then the baterie died. Anywho also the clanking sounds like it is coming from the cvt? In the clutch to be exact if I had to guese have not got it of yet to inspect it yet. Also alley I checked the engine for play in the swing arm and on the exaust side there is play I am almost certain on the other side there is less play. That might be the problem? It did make a clicking sound on the exhaust side but I swear it is coming from the cvt? I will say it again it runs fine on the center stand gas idle what ever will ideal all day I believe untill it runs out of gas. I probley put a half gallon in so far and it was close to empty today probley have not ran it no more than 20 minits a scooter gas hog how about that. Once the scooters wheels are on the ground it does not what to go very good at all. Well that is all for now. Vespa cave tonight mabey?

I think you have a clutch problem,,,,,,,one of the arm pivots or the arm itself broke or friction material stripped off one or more of the arm faces,,,or might just be worn out

I am going to have to see theses arms on cvt I do not know what you and alley are talking about. I thought there was just a clutch and a bell in the rear of cvt.
Tomarows another day.

No crap Sherlock, that is what I told him back in POST #!0. But nothing has been checked or even looked at. I think the best thing to do is to tell these people ONE THING at a time and have them come back with results from each test and or look see and then move on to the next problem. Alleyoop
