I'm going through my switches to check for operation before I can put the last few panels on my restored scoot then I can take it outside to start her up, yay! But as she is in my dining room right now, I can't start her up . So, I can only turn the key to the accessory position. And THIS, the electrical system is where I have always been my least astute. The horn switch: Works Left /right signal front/rear switch: Works Brake lever brake light switches, Check! But I need clarity on a few things. #1. The high beam headlights will light IF I press and HOLD the switch to the high side, nothing from the low beam lights at the other side of the switch in the accessory position. So,does the scoot normally need to be running for the lights to operate? And are the high beams only supposed to operate when the switch is held down? But if so, why would the high beams light in accessory but, not the low beams? I don't know if I'm perhaps stressing the contacts into making contact while holding the switch down and that they are not actually supposed to work in "accessory" either . I remember that in my cars, if one bulb went out, the whole circuit was broken and none would light. I question whether I could conclude that either a bulb or the switch is bad ? #2. This switch, I don't even know what it is supposed to do but, does nothing in accessory position. What is this switch? I saw it listed as "Auxiliary" somewhere but, that's all I could find. Thanks, for chiming in!

I just noticed that the 2 position big switch is discolored to yellow but was originally RED so, I activated it, thinking it was probably a hazard light switch. It is. But only works on the left side of the lights.

Most simply put, are the lights wired only to light while the bike is running?

If the bike does not have a HEADLIGHT switch then the headlights will come on when the motor is cranking and or starts. Other lights like the instrument panel may be come on as well but the brake light, horn and fuel gauge will work with the key on they are running off the battery. Alleyoop

Thanks Alleyoop ! It does have a low/high switch but I'm unsure if, it is wired so the lights are overall off if the bike is. This type I'm trying to save disassembly later, over one switch but, don't have a good grasp of electrical.

I would think they only work after the lights are on which would mean motor running. Alleyoop

I'm hoping for that. My neighbor doesn't remember. I've left off the access panels and have the bike outside now to start her up so, we'll soon know. I need to go over some checks, oil, plug, etc; first. I hope I done good and have no major hitches!

Yes, good suggestion. I had, a while back for leaks and want to replace them too, Alleyoop . I need to figure out how much length of what sizes to purchase and do that, soon.
