I'm looking for ideas on how to fix the trunk lid that came as standard equipment on my Roketa MC-54-250B. The hinge broke on the silly thing the other day. The hinge is sort of an integral part of the box and has some raised parts that would have to be cut off to put a metal hinge on it. I tried putting it back together with JB Weld but it didn't hold.
I was just wondering if anyone else had come across this problem and if anyone found a solution using the original design or how you fixed it.

That is NOT a fix for a broken hinge, and that's one expensive box compared to others I see on ebay. It's BIGGER than the other ones, but it's 4 times the price.

It's actually 3" deeper and 2" taller. Which is cool and all, but I was looking for the DIY $12 fix.

I measured the outside dimensions of my box at 22x14x10 and this box was 22x16x12. The hinge on mine is 100% on the outside of the box. And what broke was the part where it touches the top of the box. It was made as part of the box.

That is a nice Trunk, Its like the one I just put on my Trike. Mine is the bigger one though also my lights on the wing go all the way across it. Now about the lights, the Ones on the Trunk are only Turn Signals, the lights on the wing are your running lights and stop lights. Also the running lights squence from center to the side in pairs and when you pull the break all light up and are really bright, pretty cool. You will have to buy 6 Female Disconnet for Bullet Types for 14-16G wires because the Trunk comes with Male Bullet connectors. The instructions are very clear and wires are colored to match the color wires you are going to connect to by the taillights.
You will have to make two sets of wires that split into two. One set is for your Running Lights and one for your Brakes. So you have the Brake Light wire coming from the trunk then what I did is Used Flat Male and Female Connectors put that on the Trunk Brake light wire then cut Two pieces of wire and twisted them together on one end and crimped that onto the Connector so now you have two wires connected to the Trunk Brake Wire. Now the two loose wires from that one connector one goes to each Stop Light. You have to do the same for the Running Lights. Alleyoop

I sent the seller a question on ebay about that trunk and got sort of an odd response:
He says:
Also, that guy has several negatives over the past month. Not sure I wanna deal with him.
What do you suppose he meant by that? I'm guessing that English is not his first language.

If it were me, I would use a hinge and pop rivets.

I had a brain storm this morning while riding out to pick up my check and thought of a way to fix the trunk.
I drilled some holes in the broken off hinge pieces and put some little strips of thin aluminum that I had handy on them with some 6-32 screws and nuts that I also had handy and then screwed the whole mess to the trunk lid and put JB Weld behind it all.
Hopefully this will hold it well enough until the new trunk arrives.

Well here's an update. Tuesday of this week I got a notification fro UPS that my package had shipped. I was happy about this obviously. Friday of this week I get an email from the seller that he didn't HAVE blue in stock and could he ship me a black one? And I'm like WAIT a damn minute! How can he have shipped me something and not have what I ordered? It doesn't make any sense. So I emailed him back and said to cancel the order and refund my money, which he did this morning. I left him negative feedback on ebay over it.
So, for now, I'll suffer through with the trunk lid fix. <sigh>
