I would get it running and give it hell for 10 min running rpm up and down then shut down and let it completely cool and repeat a few times. Nothing at all to loose and if you can get them seated all that's left is ride it. If you have synthetic oil in there get it out and get some cheap oil and not the real thick stuff. You are trying to wear the rings to the point they seat. As hard of acceleration as you can get then let up and let it coast down and back up again.

Before I tore the top off that engine, I'd make damn sure it isn't just a fuel delivery problem. Tank vent, restricted line, contaminated carb, or fuel, etc, etc. Also check the whole air intake system.

i know im getting fuel to carb, actualy installed a new carb, because the old one didnt have screws to access the float, I installed a new vacuum fuel pump also, checked all vacuum lines, gonna try to get rings seated this weekend, thanks for the help

i replaced the top end. I found that the space on the piston between the two compression rings had broke and fell apart. it cranked right up but smoked just a little at first, I guess burning the oil off that I lubed it with, so far so good

Sounds like one of those lesser chinese factories was melting down bowling trophy's and making pistons out of the mess.

Great!!! Really good news,,,,,that was a fair bit of diagnosis ,,,,there's a piston right there
