I just read this stuff over there and it cracks me up. They paid an arm and a leg for those things and in some ways they're no better than a Chinese scooter. I keep reading how impressed they are when a Vespa gets to 30,000 miles. In 2016? I would expect my Chinese scooters to reach twice that and beyond.

They are pretty rabid about the brand ,,, they were the only quality/ reliable scoot for a long time,,,it was their shifter bikes that set the bar high,,,anyways most if not all their modern engines are made in Taiwan if I'm not mistaken,,,and as a serious down side to that note I found their parts dept lacking and if you did order anything from the counter crazy expensive and long to get,,,now that may be just the local dealer I have in the area but I doubt it,,,the panache and mystique is lost on me,,I wouldn't shovel that kind of dough into a scooter,,,when I get done with my r80 bmw I'll have maybe $5-6000 in it total,,,not counting labor of course,,,and it will be one hell of a bike,,and I may not break $5500 if I watch myself,,now I know I'm comparing a full sized mc to a scooter but for that kind of money I'll stick with full sized bikes thank you very much,,as much as I love my Stella and it's the go to ride for errands and around town stuff,,,a ride of any kind of distance at all it's a full size for me,,,too many mountains around here to be whippin on a 150 and too slow up hills,,getting back to the MV crowd they run down all other brands,,it's in their nature,,they bought the story hook line and sinker,,kinda like the Harley gang,,,the MV boys hit Chinese brands to the point where it's not even a discussion anymore,,and they hit the LML (genuine) also,,,the Stella in particular ,,and from personal experience I've found the LML brand to be right there with the vaunted Vespa ,,,I'd buy another in a hot second to own,,,I would buy a screaming deal on a modern Vespa but it would be a buy/cleanup/make it run right /sell situation,,an older px series buy/keep,,,same with the Stella buy/keep

You know what I think should shut them up but never does? Every so often one of their members writes how they're switching brands or just got a bike. One guy said he had enough of Vespa and the dealer/distributor apathy and was buying a Kymco. Instead of comments like, "Barbarian, be gone" there were a lot of "That's a great idea, Kymcos are solid scooters". I think more of them know they've been had than you might think, but drank the Kool Aid and enjoy the Life Style.
