As an Army Brat I grew up in Germany and Japan. Everywhere you looked folks were riding scooters. You name the brand,and they were driving them. Cars were not that common after WWII. Perhaps three families out of 1,000 owned cars. Scooters and bicycles were the norm. When Dad retired we moved back to the USA. Scooters were only at collages and collage towns. I never understood why they did not catch on more than they did.
