I'm in the market for a bike after having crashed mine. I've found a few candidates so far, but one I recently found that I really like is a 2000 Road King with 8000 miles on it and brand new tires for $8000.



Does this seem like a good deal? It looks pristine in the pics, but I haven't gone to look at it yet. The price and condition of the bike make it attractive to me. What are the cons of buying a bike in this condition?

Buying a used bike is always a crap shoot. All you can do is see the bike, ask for service records and listen to it run carefully if you can't get a test ride. If you can ride it, listen and feel it for aberrations. The price is not bad so all you need to do is check it out and see what shape it's in.

low mileage,is dependent on the brand, I'm looking at a rukus 250 thats sitting in a falling down lean too with a pile of other scooters, but it's a Honda, and the previous owner owns the shop. 30,000 is nothing on a Honda, but a chinese bike would be junk. it depends on if he will sell,and or how much, I can make it nice again

As with so many things, the answer is "it depends". Having a bike sit unused for along period can be worse than high mileage: corrosion of metal parts, rotting of rubber, deterioration of fluids, etc. This one has accumulated 500 miles/year. Was it run frequently but only on weekends (not too bad) or did it accumulate 7,000 miles in its first decade and then sit unused for seven years (that's bad!)? If this were my problem, I'd try to find out as much about the history as possible. New tires is good, but also think about a new drive belt, oil, and strut fluid, lubing cables, swapping out bushings, etc.

Edit: I just noticed from your other post that you're in India. Just get a Royal Enfield.
