Brand new to the group! A "free"scooter came my way, and now I know why! Leaked fuel from the carb. Bought a new one,and it leaks into the air box and from the top air vent tube. I drain the carb bowl, check the plug and try it again. Same results. It will start and run for 45sec.to a minute and a half then starts purging excess from the above mentioned areas. Plug isn't wet, but " sooty". I'm accustom to Chinese motors. I run a motorized bike. This is the QMB139,50cc unit. May I have a direction that I can chase down?!! Thank you kindly!

The float needle on both carbs are stuck or hopped off their mount

Stuck, like in the open position? I saw no evidence of that and tested it with your tube on the fuel inlet test. For further insurance I bent the float tang in accordance to your tech page diagram. (Very helpful stuff over there!) Possible tad to much.

If the float is actually floating, adjusted and installed right, then it has to be the needle or it's seat. With a new carb, these things should be ok. You do have a fuel filter installed in the feed line....right? Original rubber fuel lines will break down from the inside out if using ethanol blended gasoline. This, or other crud will keep the needle from closing fully.

I took it for a "Hot Lap" to check my work and it went from a whisper to a scream! I know that sound! The motor assisted bike did the same thing! So i coasted it back into the Batcave and found the exhaust vibrated loose. BUT, it had only one, huge-arse acorn nut on it! An easy fix! Now, after multiple floodings, that oil has got to be toast?! Recommendation for oil change choice?? It's has 862 miles on it.

I have an oil change coming up in a week or so, odometer will be at 14,250 miles, with 750 miles since last done. Will use the same brand and weight that I have, since Ii was uncrated back in 2012. Mobil Delvac 15w/40.
Don't get sucked into the super slippery, somehow magic, $10 a quart, oil myth. My oil changes cost $1.70, using what I do. My scooter shows no signs of wearing out, my engine has no leaks, and never needs makeup oil between changes. Just one mans opinion.......

No sooner was the oil change complete, a transmission "hiccup" emerged. It idles at 14 to 1600. At 2700 a " no throttle " event occurred. Meaning, increased gas saw RPMs increase on the tach, but not audibly, it sounds like "flooding" about to happen. It recovers then, a road bump sets it off again. I've not looked into any maintenance on the CVT! 1. WHAT should I be, AND NOT be seeing? 2. It ran well in 80° or less heat but noticed the changes in heat above 86°and dew points above 62°. In 89° sun, I'd already got hip to it, and would pull over to let it"catch up". That allowed longer, 200-300ft runs.

Side note:25sec of 1600rpm the drops to a grand and "peddling it" to kinda hold around 2k. Also, 24mph @5400rpm. No tranny hiccups during this run.
