This week I decided to break out the 750 Spectre for a little commuting. It scarcely gets warm on the short haul to work but, holy cow, does it pull for a thirty-five year old bike it still has a lot of steam. Each shift is a kick in the butt. I have to take it out on a longer ride before the season ends. It deserves it.

I dragged it out again today. This time between the ninety degree temps and a longer run I even got to turn the choke completely off. It just hummed along. Every time you twist the throttle or shift gears the pull on the handlebars is something to behold. I have a Poker Run to do this Sunday, I just might make it my ride for the day. Hopefully I can keep the Harleys in sight.

I wimped out on the run and used the Nighthawk. I had to shift like crazy all day. It was an escorted ride so I was in a long line of much bigger bikes. They go into corners lugging the engine and slowly easing their way through then jumping on the throttle coming out. I had to downshift going in and shift three gears coming out. Not to mention I would have run sweeping curves harder while the footboard crowd didn't press the issue and out powered me coming off them. Yes, I did wish I had the Kawasaki but running the Nighthawk was a blast.
