Ran fine for a couple years. Started being hard to start, then one day, wont start. Makes a grinding noise while trying to start it. (Yes key on, kill switch on, break leaver pulled) Found a video with same sound, they replaced the starter clutch, everything fine on video... not for me, I replaced the starter clutch put it back together, same sound (grinding/like metal rubbing together)...replaced starter...same grinding. Just pulled the side housing off again, to expose the magneto, starter clutch, pinion gear (?), and starter gear. key on, kill switch on, brake pulled bac, I hit the starter switch... there it is...every gear moving, but the starter clutch is moving in the free spin direction? what the ###$? I can rotate the magneto and starter clutch in the correct direction with my hand, and can here the piston moving. Does anyone one have any Idea what might be causing this problem? IT appears the locking bearing flipped directions. With old/original starter clutch off motor, pulled it apart, put it back together, and not it rotates in the opposite (correct?) direction than the new one installed. What the hay with these scooters?
