Been sitting for years. No history. Replaced carb, intake (tried both cone filter and stock,) new cdi new plug, new plug wire, starter coil. New gas tank, filter, and vaccum fuel pump. Checked timing, pressure test, and checked and adjusted intake and exhaust valves. I couldn't get it for the life of me start. It cranks for days with spark and air. Proble..is fuel is only drawn in if I remove air intake and cover carb intake with my hand and then I can seefuel get easily drawn in via a long clear tube fuel.of fuel,(temp tank). It fired and ran today for seconds only after removing exhaust pipe from engine(blocked). But still won't draw fuel without blocking intake then removing hand once enought fuel and spark starts engine briefly. Any help appreciated. Otherwise I feel like tossing this project out

Is power getting to the enricheners? It sounds like it's not rich enough when cold. Have you tried spraying starter fluid in the carb? If it keeps running you either have a clog in the tank or the float bowl. Since it sat so long there might have been gunk in the tank that got to the carburetor.
