i recently bought a brand new Taida 232cc, the latest J-300 variant. when i initially built the motor, the cyl came in the box with the piston already in it with rings attached so i left the piston in the cyl, exactly the way it arrived from Taida, never even bothered to check the rings or their clocking orientation assuming it must be correct if its from Taida and had nothing but severe oil blowby coming from the vavle cover vent since day 1. im talking 1/3 of a quart of oil within a few short miles of riding.
i since then pulled the motor back apart, bought another brand new forged domed piston, since i had to put the rings on myself i confirmed that their clocking was correct. this time around the motor certainly doesnt spit out nearly as much oil from the vent as it did before. but this still cannot be what is an acceptable amount to be expected. instead of 1/3 of a quart in a few miles its down to about 1/8 to 1/4 of a quart within a few miles.
during the few weeks i took to order the new piston, rebuild the 232, i had bought a brand new taotao 150 and tossed it in to ride around temporarily. in all of that 3 weeks of hard and long riding, maybe 500 miles - i only got the tiniest bit of blow by to come out from that motor's vent and i tried my best too. gunning it full throttle from every stop light everywhere i went, all day long. just nothing but pure, extremely hardcore abuse. so that pretty much told me what i should be expecting to get with the amount of blow by from a properly running motor. i do know that theres a huge difference in power between stock 150 and the 232 but does that also mean i should be expecting to get this much blow by and that is actually normal??
need help... good advice on what to do here. thanks
