I bought a 2006 Linhai Classic/Aeolus/Mainstreet 260 scooter (or whatever name you want to call it) for cheap and i decided to completely strip it down to the frame and rebuild it, fixing everything (within reason) along the way. The frame had some rust so i stripped it and repainted. I reassembled over the course of a few weeks and in the front i had to do wiring. I'm no amateur. This thing was missing parts. Cdi was missing, right side handlebar switches etc. I ordered a cdi and switches. The switches are aftermarket and so i used a connector kit and whipped out my soldering station and went to town after a while of probing with my meter. I want this to be as close to factory as possible.
Now.. everything works as it should. The ignition coil gets spark and all of the switches, controls and lights work. The only problem i have and so far haven't solved is this..
When i go to start this bike, it will only crank when i do NOT use a brake. If i hold either brake (activating the brake switch and turning on the brake light) it will not crank the engine. If i release the brake lever, it will crank again.
Either something isn't wired right or there could maybe be a short in the brake switch/light circuit? For whatever reason it is operating opposite of what it should be. I haven't had much time yet to diagnose this problem since i noticed it. I've been trying to find a wiring diagram for this bike for quite a while and now that I've registered here I'll do some digging to see if someone has uploaded one. In the meantime, if someone could point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks! -Derrick

It wouldn't be such a big deal but I'm afraid that when I'm riding, it will kill the engine when i brake because it's grounding out the ignition or starting circuit somehow/somewhere. I found some diagrams but I'm just sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out where the problem is. Has anyone experienced this before?
