Im trying to find out if a scooter that i may buy at auction is a 50bor 150. How can I tell by checking the VIN for a certain digit?

You don't need the VIN number. On the lower left hand side of the engine is a number. If it says 39QMB it's a 50cc. If it says 57QMJ It's a 150cc. The 39 or 57 is the bore size in millimeters.
