Hi all. Im building a moped trike powered with a new GY6 150cc engine. I bought the engine with short case and output shaft that fits a rim. I need to put an output sprocket on the shaft but have no idea what to order. Ive seen some on ebay but they cant tell me if it will fit my engine. Any one been down this road before.. thanks for any help on this EBAY OUTPUT SPROCKET

Hey, glad you joined up! I'm going to move this over to "trikes" so Alleyoop, Triker, and the other three wheelers can take a look at it. Also, look in the Trikes tech area, there's a tutorial on rear end assembly that might be of interest until your question is specifically addressed. Rich

Hi Budvoss, What are you going to use for the Axle to mount the two rear wheels. Does the Rear Axle have a differential or is it just going to be a straight axle with a Sprocket that turns both wheels at the same time. Noticed that Sprocket has only about 19 teeth. Remember the number of Teeth on a Front Sprocket and Rear Sprocket effects Top End and or Low End. Just to give you an example, the Ice Bear Trikes come with a 29 tooth Front Sprocket and a Rear Sprocket with 30 Teeth on the Differential. They first used to come with a 24 Tooth Front Sprocket but they changed it to 29 Teeth for more top end. The way it works is the bigger Rear Sprocket(More Teeth) and Smaller Front Sprocket you have lots of low end power and less top end. To get more top end speed you either have to put a Front Sprocket with more Teeth and or Less Teeth on the Rear Sprocket. To find the right Sprocket for the Drive Shaft you need to measure the diameter and count the splines on it and see if you can find a sprocket to fit the shaft. You may have to have one made to fit it. Most Front Sprockets they sell have less than twenty teeth. So your going to have to decide what performance your looking to get, TOP END or LOW END. Another example is most MOPEDS come with a 25-26 Tooth Front Sprocket and about a 30 Tooth Rear Sprocket. They get more top end out of them by putting on a 27 tooth Front Sprocket and go down to about a 25 on the Rear Sprocket. Got any pictures of your project. Alleyoop Here is a picture of the 24 tooth Front Sprocket I replaced with a 29 Tooth.

Budvoss, Last year I ordered a complete axle for the Trike, they sent me the wrong one. They sent me one with only TWO mounting brackets and mine has FOUR mounting brackets. So what I did is I took all the parts off the New one and Transfered them onto my 4 mount Axle tube. I am putting the TWO mount bracket Axle back together with the parts from my orginal Axle. It has the OPEN DIFFERENTIAL that when you make a turn the inside wheel will turn LESS than the Outside wheel so that you can make turns without Hopping around the turn which happens with a straight axle. I have New Bearings for the outside wheels and New Bearings for the Differential Holder. The Wheel Hubs are 4 hole 4.5" center to center so any rims would have to have the 4 holes with a spread of 4.5 holes. If your intrested I will sell it, PM me it is a heavy mother:) But you would just have to weld the TWO mountings onto the Swing arm Frame and bolt the sucker on. Alleyoop

Hi all. Thanks for the quick reples. Ive built several electric powered trikes my latest one is a dual etek powered trike. Now i want one with range and to setup as moped to get around fl laws. I plan to use a northern tool differential. It has one inch od axles and i can change sprockets as needed. The sprocket for the output shaft for the GY6 just needs to fit splines and then i can fab up for other sprockets for build. The splines on output shaft is 19 I will get some pics up later

Hi, Yes I know what you are talking about. WOW!! a CY6 150cc motor on a Bicycle Trike man that that thing will FLY:) My brother-in law had a stroke 6 years ago and he got a Trike to get around. Then I found him Electric Hubs mounted on a 26" in rim. Got the Brute Motor and that thing went 40mph!! After a couple of years he got better, so he sold the Trike and he got a two wheeler step through and we ordered another Electric Hub Kit and had to put on a Steel Fork because the Torque of the motor would twist the alumium fork, but that sucker went 41mph with him on it and he is 225lbs. He still has it but seldom rides it now that we have the Ice Bear Trikes. Here is were we got the Electric Brute Hub kit. Alleyoop www.electricrider.com/crystalyte/index.htm
