A Doc's Do any of you Dawg's know if the Starter Clutch Lock Nut is a left hand or right hand thread?? Also what is the trick to keeping it from turning??? I have the Spanner Socket for the job, & hit it w/ the impact, but it's on there pretty good...

Here's a video, he truned it to the right. He said you need a special "spanner" but he said a chisel would do! I think you have the better tool . I don't know how you would hold that, unfortunately he pre-loosened it. Hope this helps, Rich

Thanks Doc's Gott'r fingered out... Though I got it apart, but didn't find what's causing the noise... Took cylinder off, rod & wrist pin feel good... Noise seems to be coming from the starter clutch area, but don't see any evidence of any problems...

Bashan Thanks for the starter clutch file... I got the case buttoned up, just have to wait for new head gasket... I couldn't find any evidence of any problems causing my engine noise, but still suspect the noise is coming from starter clutch rollers & or starter & starter clutch gears chattering... Rod, wrist pin, crank, & crank bearings all feel & look good...
