Took apart the variator today. The rollers have flats spots and a bit out of round. Since I have a salvaged scooter for parts I compared all 12 rollers and picked out the 6 best. I will go for a spin tomorrow to see it there is any improvement. This all makes sense to me now. When driving for a distance and then stop at a light the belt in the variator does not return to the bottom due to the flat spots on the rollers. Basically, it is like starting in 2nd gear in a car and letting out the clutch quickly.
In regards to changing rollers to sliders, should I purchase a new variator and sliders or would just replacing my rollers to sliders will work. My variators both show what I would call normal wear and have about 4000 miles on each.
I ordered a 38mm socket today on ebay. I have a 1500 rpm contra spring that I purchased last year and I would like to install.
I ran tubing from one port to the other when I took out the supplemental air intake.
I have heard about the bolts coming loose on Milans. I have not check the tightness since I did my upgrade. I'll check before my test ride. I frequently look at the exhaust bolts. I broke the engine/exhaust mount on my old engine. Long story.

Went out for a test drive today. When the scooter is cold it runs great. However, after it heats up it stalls when starting from a stop. I guess I am going to have go for a test drive with the cover off my CVT housing to see if the belt is actually stuck in the variator. Going to order a new variator this week. It may be a combination of rollers and the "V-Sliders" sticking as the variator heats up. Is this a common problem?
Oh, I have a question. Is it normal for the CVT cover to get so hot that it can not be handled after driving the scooter? Thanks

Update: Drove the scooter around with the CVT cover off. When the scooter stalled the belt was in the center of the variator and at the top on the clutch, ruling out a stuck roller or variator issue. Changed the fuel filter. No change. Changed out the carb.
valentino2003 may have the solution. The carburetor swap seems to be the fix so far. Drove around tonight w/o any issues after getting the idle set. Going to take apart the carb later in the week and clean it.
FYI my original scooter purchase is a "Milan" style no name Znen import. The salvaged scooter is a Lance. The Lance carburetor appears to be larger than my original. I have been running with the Lance model since I swapped engines due to a broken exhaust/swingarm mount on the flywheel plate.
I feel sorry for anyone that purchases these scooters w/o any technical abilities. I have had many issues with this scooter.

I GIVE UP!!! Although leaning toward CVT and heat since this problem reoccurred 9 miles into my drive to work while slowing down at a red light. Very frustrating near depressing.

Prvrbs35, If the belt was in the center of the Variator and on top of the Clutch pulley when it stalled that means the Variator is NOT opening and allowing the belt to drop down onto the BOSS. I think your new Variator will fix your problem. the one on there is binding on the BOSS itself and not sliding back and forth. Alleyoop
