Tvnacman, After you changed the gas filter, put on hose clamps and re-adjusted the carbm, did you start it up and give the throttle a quick twist. You will know right away if its going to die or bog on you. But do this after you let the engine warm up at least 5 minutes. Then give the throttle a quick twist and let go while on the center stand and if its adjusted right the rpms should go right up with a nice sounding VROOOOOOOOOOM and come down smooth back to idle.
If when you twist the throttle it Bogs then your air/fuel mixture is not correct or your Pilot jet and or passages are clogged. Alleyoop

Ok, if it dies on you after you run it and get it nice and hot and it dies at stop lights or when you stop, then its your valves they need to be adjusted. Set the INTAKE Top Valve To .004 and the EXHAUST Bottom Valve to .005.
There is a VIDEO in the Tech Section on how to do it.

Tvnacman, Did you adjust your Valves? What are your RPMS at IDLE?
Your Idle should be around 1500-1800 and your REAR WHEEL should just want to turn.
What do you mean the bogging and stalling is better? Does it bog on the center stand when you give the throttle a quick twist? Does it bog only at Wide Open Throttle?
Need specifics to determine what the problem is Running Lean or Running Rich. Alleyoop
I don't know what type of filter you want to put on if its a Free Flow Filter you May have to re-jet the carb with a bigger Main Jet. The Pilot Jet you may not have to it all depends on your carb and how much gas it is getting already with the current pilot jet.

You got it wet? Go to the plug at the CDI. Uplug it and replug it. I spent two days on a scooter recently playing with carburetors before I found out it was electrical related.

kz I had this problem before the rain 2k on the clock I should not used the word "bog" it is a stalling problem at idle I have no tach I have a hz meter/ frequency meter and divide by 2 , the idle was low I found it out this afternoon about 1200 i pushed it to about 1550, . lets see what tomorrow brings.
I have another carb on the side that was giving trouble at max speed, it was farting from the muffler, and loss of acceleration at top speed if i backed off a little it stopped , but i lost speed.
I opened it up removed all removable parts soaked in carb cleanet blew out all passages ran ,(ran piece of wire through jet holes blew it all out) armaralled the rubber put it together. lets see what is what now, i have a carb ready to go.
Mike thank you for the offer , I may take you up on it, I would like to see if it is adjustments or a bad carb first then valves . Beond that is when the help will be needed most.

Tvnacman, Well you just mentioned something with the Other Carb You have:
"I have another carb on the side that was giving trouble at max speed, it was farting from the muffler, and loss of acceleration at top speed if i backed off a little it stopped , but i lost speed."
If its Farting or what I call BRUPING cause it sounds like a BRUP:) That means that you are running LEAN at WOT.
Here is how to tell WHAT is causing the Problem when It Bogs or Heistates its a very Accurate method and very simple:
1. When it Bogs or Whatever BACK OFF the Throttle a LITTLE and HOLD IT THERE: a. If it Speeds up or Settle down you are running LEAN(needs a little more fuel). b. If it Stumbles and THEN Speeds up or Settles down you are running RICH(to much)
Stalling at Idle could be caused by to low of an IDLE and or Your Air/Fuel Mixture is not set right or your Pilot Jet and passages or Clogged. And what keeps it running is the Enricher until it shuts off the Extra Fuel. Alleyoop
