HID Upgrade problem on yy250t By logar (Read 1,665 times)

I purchased the HID upgrade kit that was in the thread at scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=elec&action=display&thread=3646 related to the upgrade for the Jonway yy250t.

After opening up the front of the scooter I found out that I needed a 3 prong female plug from the scooter to be connected to the kit. However, I didn't see any 3 prong plug in the scooter so I couldn'tt install the upgrade.

Can anyone help with this problem? Am I out of luck, or is there something I can do?

In the HID install instructions, Todd used this plug:

which he wired into the scoot for a previous halogen bulb install. This is the same plug which will connect to the HID system.

I cut the male 3 prong plug off of the HID system in my install and connected the wires to the existing scoot wiring. I used tap connectors for the actual connections.

After cutting off the H4 style connector on the HID kit, I connected as follows:

tan connects to scooter green (common)
blue connects to scooter white (low beam)
yellow connects to scooter blue (high beam)

The scooter wires are the ones that run to either of the headlights.

Cruiser - thanks for the response.

Are you saying that the 3 existing wires to EITHER headlight can be attached to the 3 prong plug of the HID? Does that mean that the existing wires to to the other headlight are just left alone and dangling?

In other words - cut off the existing connector from ONE of the headlights and attach those wires to a 3 prong female plug, and then that is plugged into the HID 3 prong plug - and the other existing connector that WOULD have gone to the other headlight is just left alone and not used?

Your welcome, logar. Just connect to a convenient headlight wire and the other one will be a spare.
