My question is. The fuel pump on the gy6 engines is it actually a vacuum fuel pump or just a vacuum fuel shut off. I'm mounting my fuel tank lower than carb on my project and now need to purchase a fuel pump thanks

If tank is lower than carb you'll need a vacuum fuel pump. Mikuini makes a good one the DF-44, sold for under $20.00! Keep the vacuum pump as close to the vacuum source as possible, use good quality Gates or Goodyear hoses and connect the vacuum port directly to the intake manifold or as close as you possibly can to keep the vacuum pulses as strong as possible.

Another thing to remember when mounting your fuel pump is that the feed to the pump has to be gravity fed so the pump has to be mounted near the bottom of the tank. The pump pushes fuel to the carb but does not suck fuel from the tank.
