Well the swap is done and the New engine is in.. It wouldn't start at first, seems the battery is long dead, I can understand its been sitting for 10 months.. So went and bought a battery today... But before that, I hooked up my car battery to the scooter (off of course) and Low and behold.. It started with both the electric starter and the kick starter.. But it was putting away.. Every time I try to turn the throttle it stalled.. Im banking on it being bad gas, since the gas has been sitting pretty much the same amount of time. I drained the gas, put new gas in and now waiting for the new battery to charge and then I will put it in and see what we got.. Then will put the air filter on tomorrow and start to put the pieces I took off back on..
Ok.. This goes out to all those that are considering putting a new engine on.. and I know its here on this board about a THOUSAND TIMES.. take pictures, write things down and mark things.. STUPID Me did NONE Of the above and its been fun trying to go by memory.. SO MUCH FUN, that NEVER again.. I learned my lesson..
Lastly just a question.. I had a spacer on my old wheel I think its called a spacer from the wheel to the swing arm.. When I put the 13 in rim there, the spacer wouldn't fit.. So I didn't use it.. Well after I take her for a test drive around the area I will let every one know how she runs.. Its not registered yet and I don't have a M license, so can't go too far..

Alley have a question.. hopefully you check back on this.. I took it out for a test drive took for ever to start.. finally got to where It stayed started kept stalling... and its loud, smells awful and then MY LIGHTS WENT OUT... I had to hold down the passing lights just to get home.. Any reason why the lights would go out while im riding?? Its a brand new battery that charged for 3 hours.. The put putting is bad too, but more concerned that the lights went out while I was riding..
Hopefully someone can help and answer what is wrong..

Justguy1, Check your ground wires, have you grounded your engine to the frame. Your bulbs could of blown out when you connected the battery wrong. Put on the Air Filter and re-adjust your carb for less air and that will make it a little quieter and will run a lot better. Right now you are sucking in to much air and not enough fuel that is probably your putt putt. Also check to make sure your Header Pipe is not leaking. Alleyoop

HUH?? WHAT??? Ok.. The battery wasn't actually connected wrong.. The lights started out ON, but then after like 5 mins on the scooter they went out.. Someone mentioned possibly the stator connection. Also the passing lights worked so the bulbs are working. The green ground wire is connected to the engine the same way it was on the old engine.. lastly, how do I re-adjust the carb for less air?? And what is a header pipe.. Man this is a tough project.. started out fun, got crazy.. then became fun here recently and now frustrating again.. Ugg hopefully get this right.. Here is a pic of the Stator connections maybe they are wrong..

Justguy1, Sorry about the battery thing got you confused with another person:) anyway here is the wireing for a stator: www.scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=electrical&action=display&thread=997The Header Pipe is the Pipe that Connects to the engine then that pipe connects to your muffler. If you have a leak where it connects to the engine it will suck in air and also be louder and it will run LEAN. The Carb has a Air/Fuel mixture screw that allows either more fuel or less fuel which effects the engine for starting and idle and up to around 15-20mph then your Needle takes over which is being pulled out of the Main Jet as you twist the throttle. Do you know what kind of carb you have a CVK or a CV which some call a SLider. The SLider has the Throttle cable going into the Center Top of the Carb. The Other has the Throttle Cable connected to the Right side of the carb by a Bracket. Which one do you have. Alleyoop

I think its leaking where it connects to the engine.. I didn't see a gasket on the muffler. I am going to have to buy one and take the muffler off and then put it back on with the gasket. Do you have a picture or anything of the air/fuel screw?? Or is it that thing that looks like a spring that was hanging off the carb?
The Carb is brand new and it has the throttle cable on the right side of the carb.. So I guess I have the CVK one.. I wish I knew more about this.. the good thing is im learning something new every day.. AFter this I'll be ready to open my own shop.. LOL... Im going to have to check all the wiring again.. maybe something is hitting and shorting out.. Fun fun fun...

Justguy1, Hang in there bro, we will figure this out This is the Right Side of Carb: This is the Left Side of Carb: You can see where the Air/Fuel Mixture is: Alleyoop
