So here is the next saga of the Viva Touring scooter.. I swear its cursed.. I think the guy I bought from put a hex on it.. So im still waiting to put in new light bulbs since the one burned out when i lost all power.. Now I have a hair up my arse and decide today I will put in the sliders that I bought for my other engine before the swap.. So I get them in and then start it up .. seems fine.. So I decide to try to use the kickstart to see how that is.. And its seized.. Doesnt more an inch.. So I try to move it.. nothing I take off the case (again) to see what is going on and then try to move the kickstart.. Well it seems like the the one gear (that shaped like a moon) the metal collar looking thing that goes on that then into the casing broke.. So now all the pieces come out.. Great.. Yeah now we have to fix the kick start... So I go to my old engine (which by this time im glad I haven't sold yet) since i need the stator and now this piece from the kickstart and decided that was enough for today.. so this week I will be fixing the kickstart (my next project) then the bulbs.. Oh and the craziest thing happened.. when I was testing to see if the variator spun after I put the sliders in .. The gas gauge went up.. Then back down.. So still have to find that loose whatever.. I swear this scooter is cursed.. but on the positive side I have done about every facet of this scooter. im sure there is plenty more .. but i have found just about everything to repair on this scooter short of taking the whole thing apart.. fun fun fun..

Well, I really DO understand. I think the Chinese workers put evil spirits in the scoots at the factory... sorta standard-equipment... LOL! I think we need an exorcist at the point of entry, before these gremlins get in the hands of us riders...
As "Red Green" says: "We're pullin' fer' ya... We're all in this together..."
Ride safe!

Sorry guys.. I know your all hoping this dam guy needs to leave and get this bike running already.. Believe me, I feel the same way.. Every time I get something fixed, something else happens.. Ok.. Here is my latest .. I got the kickstart fixed.. Now im putting the sliders back in . Put the variator in (IF im not mistaken that is where the rollers go) then I get the wheel on.. Put the nut on.. I have a torque wrench or what ever you call it.. that powers from my car.. So I put the nut on.. Torque it a couple of times and start then engine to see how it is.. it starts. spins and then there goes the NUT.. IT loosens and almost flys off.. So i try it again.. hit it again with the torque power socket thing and it tightens.. Start it again and there goes the nut loosens again. OK. So anyone know why this is NOT staying tight?? I am tightening with the power torque socket.. Do know how else to get this tight to where it wont fly off... Any suggestions???

Check to see if you missed putting on a washer between the Nut and the Outer face of the Variator. The Shaft has Splines on it and usually there is a washer so that when you tighten the NUT it is not hitting the Splines and not tighten up against the Variator. Alleyoop

Check and see that the belt isn't down inside the pulley when you tighten it. I pushed mine down inside the clutch so the belt was loose on the variator and up away from being jammed between the fan and back part.

I actually got it to tighten.. dont know why it wasn't tightening with the power torque wrench, but I got it to tighten with a socket and a screwdriver holding it so it didn't move.. So its on.. lights are on.. and now I have to remember how to put the plastics back on..dont remember where they go.. LOL.. yeah I know PICTURES.. this is a learning experience and hopefully I wont have to bug everyone for a long while..

Ok.. Well got everything back together.. Did a test drive around my complex ( Dont have my motorcycle license yet). Good thing she ran ok.. Bad THINGS. Gas Gauge and Speedometer NOT Working. So not sure how fast it was moving. Seemed like not fast at all. I have a funny feeling that this engine just might be a 125cc even though that hell hole Tmotorsports swears its 150cc. But she runs pretty good.. I have to find a way to get this scooter to run faster. If not. Im going to sell it.. I have sliders in there instead of the rollers. Was hoping that would help.. Don't know what else I can do to get some speed out of her. Im hoping to do at least 50-55.. Seemed at WOT I was going about 40.. Which really sucks.. Just Gas Gauge and Speedodometer not working now. Lights are good, tail lights good... So not sure why they are not working.. Have to open up the front again and try to see what the hell is wrong or going on.. Well here are some pictures of the final outcome..

yeah, make sure that the splines on the shaft snugs tightly to the teeth of the primary sheave. and don't forget to use Locktite, this will prevent the nut from loosening. good luck!

how many miles on it , till you get to about 1000 or 1500 miles they are dogs , another thing check tire pressure , valves adjust them, that bike should start up very easy , oh and they run best on 87 octane

2 miles.. BRAND new engine it in.. I read a lot about the valves and up jetting and such.. Only thing is. Not real sure on how to do all of that.. And I guess if it comes down to that.. I will be taking her apart again and starting over.. Like I said. Since its got 2 mile on it I may just sell it.. But still have to get the Gas Gauge and Speedodometer working.. I can't find the short and why they are not working...

If it says P57QMJ on the lower left side of the motor next to the kick stand it's a 150. 125s have another designation. But they're right GY6 engines loosen up considerably in the first 1,000 miles. that's why it's so important to check the exhaust valve clearance at 500 and 1,000 miles. Did you check the valves before you installed the motor? They're not always right out of the box.

This engine is from Tmotorsports... and there is NOTHING on the engine.. LIke on my old engine it said the size.. this one doesnt its blank.. They claim that it shows 149.9 on the piston.. So who knows.. I don't have the foggiest when it comes to the valves or anything like that.. believe me .. I have been learning as im going.. and I have learned a lot thanks to the people on here.. So its just another learning method.. after a break in period on the new engine, I think I am going to change the air filter to the unifilter.. But when it comes to all the adjustments.. im lost..
Im looking at some pictures on here and I don't think I connected my air filter correctly.. I have hoses connected to it. and that spring like think I think I have dangling.. Maybe im restricting the air some where.. what is the best way to hook up the air filter..

Well even the 125 will do more than 40 wide open. Might be time to check the variator again. If the weights are too light or if you didnt get all of them in there its not going to gear up.
