It sounds like your scoot is a true 49cc (39mm bore) and 35 mph is a typical top speed for this displacement. A big bore kit like the $69 one at Scrappy dog will give you what's called an 80cc engine (really 72cc). This is the basis for a scoot which should be able to pull about 45 mph when tuned properly. Carb rejetting will be necessary along with CVT variator weight changes which are both low priced upgrades. A slight increase in performance might be gained with a high performance exhaust but they can be pricey. An unrestricted CDI which allows higher revs can also be a low cost performance enhancer. Here's the link to Scrappy Dog who is one of our banner advertisers: www.scrappydogscooters.com/139QMB_50cc_Performance.htmlCheck out the performance parts at all the banner advertisers. The 50cc is a popular upgrade scoot and the parts are easy to find. Here's a picture of my Peace VIP 50 which is one of the scoots with the 44mm bores (making the engine a 60cc) which will do an honest 42 mph. The engine is stamped as a 1P39QMB so that it qualifies as a moped.

Cruiser that is exactly what I have except it's red-white-black.
Thank you for the info so far.
I saw yesterday a site that had a link to a scooter microfiche on it...but I can't seem to find it anymore.
Do you know where there is an online microfiche?

My link was for a complete scooter. You were looking for an engine microfiche not a scooter microfiche.

I appreciate the help Cruiser. The more I work on this scoot, the more I lean, and everyone has been super helpful.
I am going to order an Orange CDI, some new roller weights, and a Gates belt. I am probably going to go to a small BBK as well.
Any advice on a decent kit that is complete? I'm looking at the Scrappy Dog kit you posted above.

Ive come across a vent tube with a filter? that runs from the cylinder head cover back towards the rear wheel, and into a valve, and then across over near the air box. Does anyone know what that is, or where it needs to be hooked up to?

That looks like a positive crankcase ventilation system which would probably connect to the airbox.

Hey guys... So i got my new spark plug cap on today.
I still can't get the scooter started. it has fresh gas, but maybe a 1/4 tank.
I cleaned the carb and jets with guitar wire. All connections are secure.
It has spark but it turns over but just won't start.
Does the tank need to be full? This scooter sat for about 6 months without running.
Will a new plug help?
Are there any tricks to getting it started? Does the carb need to prime, or will starting fluid help get it going?
Any ideas?

Squirt some gas down the Intake. Take the Vacuum hose off the INTAKE NIPPLE and squirt some gas down in there not a lot then put the hose back on and see if it attempts to fire. If it attempts to fire then we will know that its FUEL DELIVERY.
Do you know if you have a PETCOCK, FUEL PUMP or SHUTOFF VALVE. Is gas getting to the CARB? Alleyoop

No on start fluid!!!! a clean carb is one thing but starting fluid is a no-no Carb cleaner ok. Does the tank need to be full? No Maybe fuel filter (clogged), spark plug (weak or fouled) even loose wire or battery putting out enough power. I'm sure as hell no expert so I'll let other's chime in. And they will. M/CD

I'll try those ideas out tomorrow.
I "think" it's getting fuel, the fuel filter is filled with fuel.
The old spark plug was not getting wet in the cylinder though.
It did sound like there was a small pop from the exhaust. Maybe it just needs to fill the carb with fuel, and prime itself?
Im sure it will be all worth it once it gets running.

Did you do what I suggested in my first post (reply #3)? Make sure the kill switch is in the "off" or "run" position. If you are getting gas and spark, then a valve adjustment is indicated. If it starts with the carb cleaner, then the auto enricher may not be working.

I got it started, and was able to keep it running long enough to do minor adjustments on the idle. The cables were stretched a bit.
But upon further inspection the carb diaphragm looks to be very droopy, \____/ shaped like that and not tight at all.
Where can i but a replacement diaphragm at?
Is the auto enricher not working? Do they sell these, or should I try and find a new carb?
